if you suspect you have something, get tested right away.
otherwise, for most std's, get tested within 3-6 months of sexual contact that involves more than just mouth to mouth contact (unless they have something that can be orally transmitted). and if you are female, get a pap smear after 2-3 years of having vaginal sex for the first time. after that, somewhere along once a year to once every 2 years, get a pap smear.
