History/bio: Ryan was born and grew up in Traverse Town with his sister, Serah. Serah was always that kind hearted girl who was always too sick to ever do much, so Ryan spent his time protecting her, whether it be from bullies or the normal dangers for a girl of her ailments.
This caused Ryan to have only a few close friends, but that was all he needed. His friends and sister encouraged him to seek out entrance into the Kingdom Key Academy. If he could learn to wield a Keyblade, there was no way he wouldn't be able to protect anyone, or so he thought...
The week before he was to leave, Serah was attacked by a group of Heartless. Ryan was able to defend himself, but he was unable to make it to his sister. Her strong heart and weak body made her a prime target. It was here that Ryan was to lose the closest person to his heart, and gain the resolve to keep it from happening to anyone else.
After some time at the Academy, despite Ryan's skill with his Gunblade and ability in battle, he is unable to preform a Dive to the Heart. This is most likely due to the pain of losing his sister, but he makes due with what he has. After all, it matters not the tools you are given, but how well you use them.
