Directly to the guild itself? Sit there useless, basically Once it's in the guild account, all it's good for is buying subforums and sending out announcements. Beyond that, it's money lost, which is why most guilds have guild mules to donate to, in order to fund contests and stuff There's no way to withdraw from the guild acount and get the money back, so unless you're looking at a guild with low funds, don't donate to the guild, find their mule and donate to them

There really isn't much the guild can do with it. You would be better off donating to the treasurer or mule.

In our case, the gold actually is used because every time we send out an announcement we use gold and lots of it because we have so many members. However, we currently are well-funded for that so the above advice is good advice here as in most guilds: to donate to a guild, find the treasurer or guild mule to donate to instead. After all, if the guild needs gold to fund announcements or new subforums, that avatar can always donate it.
