dont care for the firework displays here either, kind of lame. Once I saw the Opening Ceremony ones for the 2002 Winter Olympics (got to go to that actually, for free xp ) and then some in other states the ones that are here are just meh. plus now the state lifted the ban off aerial fireworks so we can personally set ones off as long as they don't go more than specific height and they don't sell them if they do in the state so...

I just don't like them. Once when I was idk 10ish I had a bottle rocket in my back pocket (smart move, I know), and my cousin lit it. I didn't know he had till it shot off and caught my hair on fire emotion_0A0 And its funny. I almost went to that emotion_awesome my mom decided to leave me and my brother at home though while she and her husband went. All I got was a stupid souvenir keychain. At least we got to spend the week alone.

anything like those are still banned, it has to be set off in a self contained thing not hand held or similar, probably for that kind of reason... which that sucks neutral
And lol XD only reason I got to go for free was cause my crazy aunt won tickets and took me, my brother and my grandma because here kids were too young and she figured they wouldn't enjoy it as much and get bored. It was alright other than the traffic during that week was HORRIBLE. We went to a few things, I got to go to the Opening Ceremonies, then a USA VS Germany hockey game, then a Concert, all of which I never paid for... XD my school got some tickets for the hockey game and I had a good GPA at the time and was on the honor roll and I think that's why I got to go O.o XD

I don't know if anything was illegal or if someone in the family was sneaking into Mexico to buy fireworks (which I wouldn't rule out), cause we always had enough fireworks to last several hours. And the big ones like what rayray is talking about we'd get too. I remember one year, my cousin (same one as before) and my brother would light the shells and throw them at each other. Lol

The fireworks are at the lake and we have an open pit fire ban in place at the moment due to dry conditions. Hence why the fireworks will be over the lake.

Lol Here where I live, you get caught with fireworks (which is illegal for personal use let alone own) you face up to $10,000 (Canadian) and up to 15 months in jail

greeness fireworks were illegal in cities/towns but not in the country. So we always went to my aunts house. It is up to the provincial government here, there is no federal ban. Edit except a few provinces where you can shoot them off in the country. There is a province wide ban, that is why the fire fighters and city staff are allowed to shoot them off for Canada day and new years (and the Calgary Stampede)

I live like a mile or two out of town limits, so I can shoot off fireworks whenever! But we rarely do (loud sudden noises and me don't mix well), only if the extended family gathers. And it's too dry now anyhow to safely set them off.
No plans for this holiday. But my dad did go on an all-night catfish trip last night, so I have a nice quiet day and a catfish dinner tomorrow to enjoy. I am tempted to start up one of my old games, but I'll have to use headphones so as not to disturb him.
