Those books were my first taste of confirmation that there were things Not Okay in the world, and being a well-behaved child couldn't save you from them. For that matter, the illustrations inspired me to really *look* at art and take it at more than face value. The book is a rite of passage, dammit! That can't be ******** with! D=
