So I finished reading the article and some of the user comments on IGN, and although my original comment sticks, as I would have loved to get some of my PSP games over, it did raise a few questions and comments.

1) claims that the system was working fine in Japan - are we sure it was working fine? Could there have been issues we are not aware of? How many games had been optimized for the Vita?

2) it won't really have an effect on sales, in the end, its not a major selling factor, although it would have been nice.

3) the comments about "only in Japan? thats crossing the line!" made me think of one thing, spoiled princess! Concidering I am litterally a stones throw away from the US, when I hear americians complaining about "why not here?! thats so not fair!" I laugh because its ok to offer something there but nowhere else, just not the other way around. So for those that believe its not fair, I say suck it up, the world isn't fair.

Keep in mind that I personally just think the service would have been great to have, the fact its not here just means I dont get to make use of it, but I can live on as it was not a major selling point for me.

Also something to think on, the service is not coming to NA, atleast not now, they did not say it would never come, they could be simply working out issues with the existing system.

1.) It could have to do with how the system registers the games. I'm not up on how the program works, but it's possible that multiple users could use one game to get the discount. As for optimization. No PSP game is "optimized" for the Vita. They're just upscaled to take advantage of a few perks. Like resolution and the OLED display.

2.) Technically,if you downloaded a PSP game you can still play it on the Vita. We've known for at least over a year that PSP UMD games wouldn't be playable on Vita. So I guess users should have been downloading instead of buying discs.

Though, personally I've never been a big fan of the UMD passport program. Considering you have to prove you own the game to get the discount. I don't see why they can't mark the game on a user account, and let them get a digital copy for free. I guess it just rubs me the wrong way. If I paid $40 for a game why should I have to pay 5-20 dollars and show proof to play it on the Vita.

Some PSP games had been digitally optimized but also for controls as well, to make use of the dual sticks.

If they had put a unique code in with each manual like PC games, they could registar online but I suspect that each copy of the game on the disk is completely identical so in theory, you and I could trade off a disk to get the discount.

When I first heard this news, I was kinda sad, not gonna lie.
But the more I think about it, the more that I come to realize I should be playing Vita games on the Vita, not PSP games. Granted, having say, God of War Chains of Olympus or Ghost of Sparta or any of the GTA games on it would be nice, I don't really play those games enough now to warrant another (reduced price) purchase on the Vita.
