You sit at your table in the corner of the tavern, away from the revealing light of the torches that line it. Downing the last of your ale, you put down your mug, and a wench comes and takes it away to refill it.

During the wait, you scan the room of its occupants. Travelers, warriors, mercenaries, thieves, bandits... a motley crew, here to drown their sorrows and fill their bellies. However, none are true adventurers, like you, and you feel a slight bit of contempt for their inadequacies.

Your thoughts wander as you hear a musician strumming his lute in a melancholy tune off in a corner. You reflect on past adventures, and how your party had finished their campaign and everyone had gone their separate ways. Times were good, but now was the time to replace old with new, to find new companions to travel with, to partake of quests that bards would sing of for generations.

Soon, one individual pushes open the tavern's door, a sudden gust of wind causing the flames of torches to briefly flicker and dance, sending shadows dancing wildly across the walls. The door closes behind them as they scan the room, before finally spotting you and quickly moving towards your table. Soaked to the brim, you look down upon the clutched parchment in their hand - one of the many posters you had set up across the city.

Taking in the sight before you, you sized up this person, and as the realization began to sink in, you come to a pair of conclusions:

This person was definitely NOT adventurer material; And, you were in for a long night.

Welcome to Team Reject, a fun game I thought of about 5 minutes ago! We're used to our characters being the stuff of legends, but what about all the REST of the "adventurers" in the world that couldn't succeed in a first level quest if their lives depended on it?

Here's the rules:
1.) Post the character's brief mechanical description. For D&D, this should include at least the Edition, Race, and Class. Gender, Name, Gear, Measurements, etc can all be written in now, if you want.
2.) In the following posts, roll 3d6 six times (you can lump them into fewer or a single post if you want). Note, that you are NOT rolling 4d6 drop the lowest. If you are making a character for a different system that uses some other form of random ability score generation, likewise cripple yourself somewhat.
3.) Optional, but Preferred: Apply your ability scores IN ORDER.
4.) Go back and edit your original post, filling your your character's general stats, equipment, and other "important" information. Include a backstory about your character's past, and why they want to be an adventurer so badly!
5.) Optional, and Macabre: What fate befalls your character, when they try to take on the world?

Gorrok Harmstruck, 1st level Half-Orc Barbarian (D&D 4th ed)

STR: 12 -> 14
CON: 16
DEX: 11 -> 13
INT: 15
WIS: 9
CHA: 9

History: Gorrok was a half-orc that showed much prowess of mental ability and physical might! Seventh strongest youth of his tribe, he longed for a life outside of the nomadic nature of his family. He showed a lot of determination, and mental capabilities that exceeded many of his peers, despite his aspirations for a more primal path.

However, Gorrok lacked a lot of the common sense and cool temper that would keep his violent urges in check. He was MANAGEABLE, but generally not agreeable. As such, once he got it stuck in his head that he wanted to see the world, no one was able to convince him otherwise.

One night, when his parents were sleeping, he took his father's familial battle axe and snuck out, leaving his old life behind him and heading towards the nearest settlement. All the tales he's heard always involved great adventurers beginning quests in taverns, which meant he needed to find a city.

Future: Gorrok most likely meets the end of his career when his party, who doesn't much care for his aggressiveness, decides to leave him behind as a fall guy after a botched 1st level quest to steal some files from a wealthy noble on behalf of his rival. When the city guard descended upon the hapless party, it didn't take much effort to convince Gorrok to hold them off while they secured an escape route, and simply did not come back for him.

Gorrok is held on one count of breaking and entering, one count of attempted robbery, four counts of aggravated assault, and fifteen counts of first-degree murder. His execution is slated for the day after tomorrow.

Sounds like a lot of fun actually. ninja

Rolls: 16, 7, 9, 8, 10, 6

Class/Race: Human Barbarian

Team Reject: Mercenary Extraordinar- Samurai Mastah

STR: 16 (+2 Human)
CON: 7
DEX: 9
INT: 8
WIS: 10
CHA: 6

Can't decide if he should go hide, or just go cloth like he's wearing a kimono.

Whatever the case he's a class cannon lol.

In RL, Chainmail would be the way to go with him, or toughness, and given that he's a human it would be easy to do.

But screw that lol; this guy focuses on his sword!

Also, he wears those wooden sandals, so he has a tough time walking around.

Chel'al Au'ra'staal, 1st level Eladrin Wizard (D&D 4th ed)

STR: 10
CON: 4
DEX: 7 -> 9
INT: 15 -> 17
WIS: 5
CHA: 10

History: Chel'al was an Eladrin that was always interested in the arcane arts - after all, this very energy ran in the veins of her people just as strongly as blood. Many of her kind had risen to the ranks of elite archmages and spellswords, most of which occupied seats upon the Magistrar's Council.

Whereas, Chel'al simply eked out an existence as a housemaid.

This was no longer good enough for Chel'al. One day, she threw down her mop and swore an oath to finally rise to her full potential, to finally master the arcane arts which she never had time to pursue during her whole extended life! She found that getting a master was a bit difficult, but this setback did not quell her determination. Through many tranceless nights, she studied and studied like no Eladrin had ever studied before.

Eventually, she soon grasped all the basic concepts, and finally the title of 'Wizard'.

In fact, she was the oldest Eladrin to ever acquire that title, at the age of 417 years old. In fact, she was the oldest Eladrin period.

Future: Upon her very first encounter as an adventurer, her senility had gotten the better of her, and she wandered off from the rest of the party before they realized she was missing. A goblin leaped out of the bushes in an effort to ambush her, and the strain from the surprise round was so much on her heart, she died before the goblin could even roll for damage.

Feraya Tosscobble
1st level Female Halfling Sorcerer (Pathfinder!)

Rolls: 15, 7, 13, 17, 13, 18

Str 13
Dex 9
Con 13
Int 17
Wis 13
Cha 20

Feraya comes from a tribe of halfling wanderers. She's likable and friendly, but very clumsy.

And I can't think of why she'd be a reject with stats like that. I really can't. I think I failed at the game. crying

Looks like fun

Ragiev, 1st level Drow Wizard (D&D 4th ed)

STR: 11
CON: 9
DEX: 9 -> 11
INT: 6
WIS: 6
CHA: 6 -> 8

History: Ragiev has hated everything and everyone since he was a very young Drow and dedicated most of his life to planning on the ridding the omniverse of everything. What was the best way to do this? To learn some wizardry to blow s**t up of course.

Future: Ragiev finally gets a party but they grow tired of his attitude pretty fast. He never wanted to work as a team and constantly belittled his party members. Who wouldn't be pissed at a guy delivering "I hate you morons" monologues at every opportune moment? So what do they do? They push him off a cliff and he can't really defend himself because well, he's kind of lacking to begin with.

As he's falling to his doom he realizes he should have been a rogue instead and then goes kasplat.
