Why? Why is it that whenever we feel hurt or betrayed we don't go and confront the person who caused it? Why do we sit back and feel sorry for ourselves? Is it simply because we're afraid?
Not all of us are that way, though. Not all of us are completely oblivious to other peoples feelings, either. There are those among you mortals that can read, change, or even completely destroy the minds of others. We are called Seishin. Few people know about us; but none of you can find us.
We breathe. We love. We live. Just like normal human beings. But we fight and risk our lives to protect you from the mind-eating parasites called Sairento. The Sairento are born through negative emotions such as hate, rage, jealousy, and so on. They thrive on human pain. They'll eat your mind until it's completely gon and you're nothing but an empty shell.
How we fight is not for you mortals to see, though. Ideas may fly through your head, but at the end of the day, we'll make sure you don't remember a single thing about us. Sad, but true.
This knowledge would be too much for your meager minds to contain. This is why you must never know about us.
"Welcome to Kenjuki, Japan." the flight attendant's voice came over the intercom of the two-story plane. I lowered my magazine and looked out of my window from the second story, the first-class level of the massive airliner. Below us stretched a beautiful mix of a deep blue ocean and vast greenery. Smack in the middle of all this lush sat what any human could tell was a resort town. "The beautiful resort town sits along the eastern coast of Japan. With it's many gift shops and beautiful sights, no one would ever suspect that someone dies here every year."
