Hayyel was slinking through the underbrush his eyes on his prey he was stalking trying to keep a quiet as possible. The old game hunter versus prey, now just to get closer... closer.. SNAP. A twig broke beneath his paw, crap. His prey turned towards him charging forward he tried to back up but the underbrush tangled behind him keeping him from moving.

The prey turned predator stopped short before him. "You really suck at this game you know that?"

"It's not like I eat meat anyway!"

"Still you'd think you'd be at least a little better at it, heck you'd be more quiet if you flew!"

"Oh hush" He flopped his butt down to sit. "It's not like you're some great predator or something"

An eye brow quirked up "I'd be better than you if I had paws and claws."

"Then I guess it's a good thing I'm not one" he stuck his tongue and started laughing a playful bat of his paw on his friends face which earned him a snort.

"You really aught to take this more seriously" Naro snorted at him

"Why exactly do you want me to eat you?" Hayyel had met Naro when he was a kit and they had been friends ever since, ever since they were too innocent and naive to know they should be on opposite sides. Naro's parents hadn't exactly been pleased, Hayyel's father on the other hand was glad his son followed in his footsteps.

Naro just snorted and stomped a foot in mild irritation "You're not going to eat me, you wouldn't stand a chance."

Hayyel started laughing, Naro was probably right, they had been playing at this game for too long he knew all Hayyel's moves. It all started out as a way to mess with Naro's parents, freak them out, but they enjoyed it so much they just kept it going. "Yeah well, you're too sinewy to be tasty anyway" he stuck his tongue out.

"Tell that to the guys trying to eat me!"

"Hayyel stopped laughing "Who's trying to eat you?"

"Uhh everyone who eats meat? You do realize someone's flying over us watching intently?"

Hayyel looked up to the sky, sure enough there was someone flying up there, he had completely missed it. That was the benefit of having a friend who had such a large range of vision. He was a great scout. "Maybe they're just enjoying the view?"

Naro gave Hayyel a 'are you serious' look

As soon as the flier started to decend Naro lept over Hayyel and into the brush, he trusted Hayyel but he didn't rust the intruder, the trees and brush would give him an advantage, one Hayyel often complained about. From here he could observe the new comer and run if needed.

Hayyel on the other hand just sat there watching the fliers decent, seemed to be a kitsu though none he had met thus far. He still felt reasonably sure it wasn't a threat to Naro, after all it had to know it had been spotted and it was still descending. Course there was always the chance it was coming down to tell him he was too good to be talking to the likes of 'lesser' creatures, that had happened once... didn't go over to well, but Hayyel got a kick out of it when the kitsu got kicked by both of Naro's hind hooves, sure shut him up and reminded Hayyel not to piss Naro off.

"If you let it eat me..."

"It would have changed course if it had intended to eat you, it lost the element of surprise."

"Just cause you give up when I catch you sneeking in doesn't mean everyone does."

Hayyel just rolled his eyes. "Fine I promise I'll eat you first."

"That's not comforting."

Hayyel just smiled.

"See told you it was safe" He smiled teasing Naro who only responded with a snort, still not convinced. "Hi" Hayyel greeted the new comer. "Sorry my friend is a bit shy of anyone with pointy teeth." He chuckled both teasing Naro and wanting to put the new comer at ease. He was looking her over trying to get a read on her, definitely a female, she certainly didn't seem dangerous.

Naro still wasn't convinced however. He kept the shrubbery between him and the other kitsu, not to mention keeping Hayyel between them. That kitsu had better be good for something or he'd come back from the grave just to stomp Hayyel for not saving him.

"You still think she's a threat?" She came to him but shied away when he said hi, not exactly your scary sort.

Naro stepped forward, ok she wasn't exactly a bloodthirsty kitsu, he almost felt sorry for her, she seemed diminished in his eyes now that he wasn't in prey mode anymore. He stretched his long neck out to get a closer sniff of the female checking her out.

"Don't be an idiot you'll scare her" He scolded Naro before smiling apologetically at her. "This big galoot is Naro, don't mind him, he's harmless... well mostly." Another apologetic smile. "I'm Hayyel by the way. What's your name?"

Naro lifted his head and snorted in protest to being called harmless "You really going to tell a predator their prey is harmless? You think these horns are for decoration?"

"Well yeah... I mean can you really see where you're sticking those things if you actually try to use them? Cause you can get kinda wild with them..."

"..... shut up."

Hayyel gave a big goofy grin, victorious this round. Naro and he had a strange relationship but they enjoyed it. "Like I said, harmless." He hoped Naro didn't go scaring her off, he wasn't exactly the scary type but she seemed the skittish type so it was hard to say.

Naro and Hayyel looked at each other staring, a silent exchange over Morticia. Hayyel smirked "Long as you don't send a nightmare to eat Naro" he smiled, he knew a nightmare himself, guy was an a**. He didn't socialize with him at all. Course he wasn't sure she was really the type, she was kinda cute in a gimpy sorta way, it was endearing.

Naro smiled "I like her." he chuckled softly.

"Then it's settled" he smiled "Don't worry, we don't bite, I don't even eat meat."

"Still doubt you can keep that up."

"You'll be the first to know" He joked.

Naro chose to ignore Hayyel and kept his attention on Morticia "Why so spooked? You're suppose to be the predator here, not that I'm not relieved you only eat fish, I don't like my friends to think I'm tasty."

Naro huffed in a airy laugh, "Aren't you two the pair."

"What are you going to marry us?" Hayyel looked at Naro in a 'what are you trying to say' way.

"Dearly beloved we are gathered here today--"

"That's for funerals you dolt." He rolled his eyes at Naro who only shrugged "Why don't you go play with Todd and leave her alone" ok really he just didn't want Naro to tease him about not having a girlfriend. Ever since he met Persephonie, Naro has been pushing Hayyel to find a girl, what were they going to do double date?

Naro gave a 'you have got to be kidding look' "Have you tried to talk to that squirrel? That's ADHD on crack that's what that is, nu-uh this is far more fun to watch." Naro smiled enjoying this immensely. He turned his attention to Morticia again "That's his problem too" he gestured to Hayyel with his head "You try to teach them but.." he sighed and shook his head as though he were a disappointed parent

Hayyel swatted Naro's leg causing him to jump, he hated when Hayyel did that and it earned Hayyel a quick glare. "He's right, we play at it, it's what we had been doing before you showed but... well it's hard to get a leg up on someone who knows all your tricks." He shrugged ignoring the glare.

"See now that's perfect, she can handle you're crazy."

"My--" he couched choking in surprise "My crazy? She did say 'both' you know, that includes you too."

"I'm only crazy cause I have to put up with you, crazy by proxi" Naro smirked and Hayyel facepalmed with a groan.

Hayyel had to admit he liked that smile of hers though, and he had to smile in return. "Don't pay any attention to him" he motioned to Naro, "he likes to get my goat"

"That suppose to be funny cause I'm not a goat." Naro stomped his foot in protest.

"Really? Cause sometimes I wonder." He stuck his tongue out at Naro and laughed. "So what brings you out here Morticia? Out enjoying the beautiful weather?"
