Last night I was working on a piece I've been at for around 80 hours now when my computer froze up completely. I thought at the most, I'd lost whatever I'd been working on since the last save, but when I was able to get my computer up and running again the file was completely gone. It just, disappeared. I've been devastated all day over it, because it was the result of my finally being able to get myself to draw again after being in a funk for the last year or so, and then this happened. It was like a huge slap in the face. All
I have left is a picture I snapped real quick with my phone to send my boyfriend. It's a piece I have to finish for a contest, so I have to start it over again, but i"m afraid I wont be able to achieve the same quality....

I think one of the only things worse than art block is losing art that you've put (or are currently putting) your heart into. That really, really sucks.

Keep on keepin' on. No matter what you do, it'll be rad-tastic.

That's happened to me before with digital art. I guess the best thing to do is have a backup of it in a flash drive (or if you want to be extra sure, reusable disks? Don't know if they save programs like photoshop, etc.).

I know how it feels. I lost almost all my portfolio as I left art school.... originals and backups in a human error. Countless all-nighters followed.
Good luck getting back into the groove.

Are you sure you did not save it in a different folder? Worth a shot.

Still ouch. I never lost anything that I spent so much time on but I get upset when my net goes down after making a 2 paragraph reply on Gaia. So 18hr real work .... ugh I don't want to think about it. gonk

Heres hoping if you make a re-do it will come out better than the first. sweatdrop

Thats horrible.

I dont know how it feels to lose your masterpiece like that, wouldnt want to honestly, I'd be devastated.

This may be a little late for advice but you can try doing a system go back. Set your computer back a day before it happened. YOu may lose a few hours but you may also be able to recover the file. >.<

I hope whatever happens you don't lose your heart for art and you are able to keep moving forward. I love your art. I'd hate to see you stop drawing D;

I actually had to revert to resetting my pc to factory settings. It was consistently freezing several times a day, and blue screening.

It was something alright. It's been running so much more smoothly since I reset it at least. I'm just going to have to be more careful this time.

Aww! That's so unfortunate!

I am guessing this is one of the reasons I don't like doing CG.

I'm glad that you were able to get back up on your feet again! I've had similar
experiences multiple times, but instead of the file disappearing, it'd turn into
a "corrupted file" and nothing would be left of my work.

Yay, keep drawing!
