The door sprang open and a young woman dressed in a black catsuit and fur hat walked in, shutting the door behind her.
Her empty bottles were all there was to greet her here, and she sighed to herself, collapsing onto her twin-sized bed. She threw off her hat, revealing a head of straight, dark hair that was cut short--almost like a boys. Even with the hair cut she still looked quite beautiful, but she didn't really care. Looks didn't matter much to her. Little mattered.
She lay down on her bed and removed her gloves, flexing her bare hands above her. There was no warmth of freshly-stored energy in them-- her task at the Gotham Museum hadn't resulted in her using her powers.

It was dark out, and the moon that had watched over her crime continued to watch her now through the window. She began to make shadow puppets with its light.

The door of Viral's room slid open, and she entered sluggishly.
It was early morning, but the sun was still below the horizon, and the room dark enough it might as well be evening.
She stood by her dresser, detaching the sheath and pouch that were slung around her waist, and setting them on top of the furniture beside the glass bottles.
She took off her gloves, and changed into a more bed-friendly outfit. A part of the double-bladed dagger gleamed green for a moment, and she looked at it again, taking the weapon out of its sheath. She then made her way to the window in her room and lay down across her small bed, admiring the craft of the weapon in the fading moonlight.
She felt proud that the headmaster had entrusted this weapon to her at her very first day. Her most recent task hadn't left her proud however. The headmaster barely acknowledged it this time.
She ran the blade carefull across her hand, feeling the soft scrape of the deadly blade against her palm all the way to her fingertips. It made a high-pitched sound as it left her figertip; the sound of the sharpest weapons.
She cleared away some of the glass bottles and rested the dagger on the windowsill.
"Time for some 'rnr', my friend" she whispered, and fell asleep into her pillow.

Several days later the intercom came on demanding Viral to go to the Head Master's office.
