Yeah you know this guy. yeah...this guy. this is the guy who calls your art crap no matter how hard you worked or how good the art really is. he is the guy who is always better then you even if he's not. Yes all you artists know this guy. he hates anime, comic art, or anything that isn't his art. He offers critiques and never has anything good to say about anyone and can't take critiques himself. he is often mistaken for a troll. That guy...who gives you the one really bad message on your comments that destroys your day

Ugh. For a little while I did site art for another gaia-type forum, and there was one member in particular that always, without fail managed to complain, mostly because she hated anime style artwork. I ended up doing a complete re-design of all the sites NPCs, and she complained all over the forums because the style was suddenly anime, and failed to mention that the site now had a multi-racial cast. :/

You have no idea how much it urks me when I see someone go, 'YOUR ART IS BAD WHY YOU SUCK SO MUCH', and yet doesn't give any advice on how to improve the artists work. If it's so easy for you to see the flaws, why don't you tell them what's wrong? I'd rather fail a thousand times to learn something new than to keep making mistakes - otherwise it's just practicing how to mess up. I'm positive the greater majority of artists feel this way too.
Luckily I get awesome critiques from awesome people. Helpful critics have pushed me forward and motivated me to research and hone my abilities and to study what direction I want to go when it comes to style. There's just so many people that I see on image posting websites that are like, "This is clearly not art since it's not within my tastes. Therefore, you're not an artist, but just an amateur."
Really? How many people do you meet in real life that have this holier-than-thou mentality that state EVERY rude and stupid thought that's on their mind, no matter the outcome? No one. That's why I can't stand internet tough guys.

I know what you mean...and its probably not the best or most mature thing I do, but I like to challenge them back. I don't particularly care for people who put artist down... When people are mean just to be mean I point it out, or usually throw there comment back in there face.... like I said... probably not the most mature thing to do xp I really have so little patience for people like that.... probably should work on that xd

I remember that happening. xd It makes me giggle, because my boyfriend is the exact same way with anything Reapersun does or puts out.

I love his expression so much! So funny whee
It reminds me of this time when I was drawing my oc in class, and this girl walked up to me and was like "what's that?" and I said "just a guy..." and she's like "OH I can't tell because I don't like/understand manga style." okay first I wasn't drawing in an manga style. second, I saw her drawings and they were definitely a terrible traced manga drawing.
UGH.

I quit when the site changed ownership and the new owner couldn't get his s**t together and pay me in a reasonable amount of time. To be fair a lot of the art I did was way outside my comfort zone at the time, and when ollie would ask me to draw something id go through this momentary panick of, oh my god am I even capable of doing this? Most of my backgrounds were crap because I didn't honestly know what I was doing... I studied perspective just so I wouldn't be a complete loss, but studying only does so much for you when you just don't have the skill yet.
