Music Emergency!!!

I need help, I'm really into music and find I learn languages better by music and trying to dechipher what they are singing about. But I am having trouble finding music I like.

Yoko Kanno and Nujabes are some of my favorites. I like HIkaru Utada too. (Kingdom Hearts FTW)

But I want to see if anyone knows any music that's apart of the indie scene. I'm a big fan of music such as, Florence and the Machines, Radical Face, Adele, Snow Patrol and Death Cab for Cutie. (There's more but I'm having a moment. Bittersweet I know.)

Can anyone suggest music in the same style as those artists? I'm looking to add variety but some of the ultra pop and electro or metal gives me a headache. I appreciate any help at all.

Ahhh Hikaru Utada, everyone's first Japanese artist thanks to Kingdom Hearts.

Hmm I don't really know what to suggest because there seems to be only two genres: JRock or JPop and bands only ever seem to fit into one or the other...

Indie... Indie... maybe Every Little Thing would be a band you might like?

You'll just have to go through and look for music you like really.
The AVEX Channel on YouTube manage a lot of bands and are always giving PV previews on their so I suggest going through and looking at their channel as they do a range of music ^_^

Thanks for the advice. I just need to find more variety. I've filled two portable hard-drives with music from the US and Europe already. I'm just tapping into the Asian/Japanese scene.

@Sambart -Jrock and Jpop are umbrella terms. There are different styles of Rock/Pop within those. It's not like they all play the exact same type of music.

Girugamesh and Janne da arc are both really good.
Maybe you would like RadWimps. I would say they sound similar to Ludo. I don't know if you've listened to them but Thats who i would compate RadWimps too. They are good.

You might enjoy LM.C maybe.

Maybe some Miyavi. he liked to experiment with a lot of different styles of music so you might like some of what he does.

Orange Range. they are kind of rock-pop/pop-rock maybe. . .

Mucc has various rock styles. . . there is a small range of styles but it is good. . .

I can't say i'm entirely clear as to what you were looking for but I hope this is helpful. If you like any of these i could give you more suggestions based off of whichever you like.

Miyu - Thanks for the help. I just want some music that aren't huge techno types, but everyday music that is easy to listen to and fun to sing. It's hard to explain what I like, it's mostly to help with learning Japanese language. I find if I sing the words to music they stick better and I'll have a harder time forgetting.

Maybe you would like some Hello!Project. I don't know if you know about it. It's a big all girls pop unit which is divided into a bunch of groups. the biggest of the groups is Morning Musume. They are well known. Other groups from Hello Project are Buono, Berryz Koubou, C-ute, High Kings, and many more. Some of which aren't active units anymore. Many members are in multiple units at the same time. . . All of the music is very poppy and easy to sing to. smile

Also. similar to hello project is AKB48.

Ayumi hamasaki . . . . Otsuka Ai. . . . Base ball bear . . . . BoA Kwon (she is korean but has many songs in japanese, They are very good ^_^) . . . . ToHoShinKi (also korean [DBSK] but under the name tohoshinki shey have released japanese music) . . . .

Michi, Rie Fu, Kana Nishino, Chara, Tokyo Michael, Yuna Ito. Most of those are jpop.
A lot of songs from the Taiko games are really good, too. :3
