For the longest time, I would get flooded orders to the point where I would get severely stressed over them. I took a short break and now my art won't sell at all. And that goes for other avatar sites, not just Gaia. So I'm posting my samples here and asking, what is it exactly that makes my art undesirable? -Is it boring? -Not realistic enough? -Not....anime-ish enough? -Are there too many mistakes or errors in anatomy or something? I guess I'm pretty much just looking for some feedback. I'm taking time off to try new styles and stuff, but this is the style I enjoy the most: xox xox xox xox Also, here's my DA for other samples + styles, etc. But again, no one seems to like it really ._." Any constructive feedback would be much appreciated!

ummm its not like your bad or anything, but maybe the reason why people are not buying because you lack outlines? it looks like you dont use any lines at all and that, to me, might be the reason.
another reason might be because its too realistic? i know me, for one, wouldn't buy your art simply because its too realistic for me so that might be it. like i said not saying your a bad artist at all but maybe people just don't think your style is right for their avi/oc?
and to my your male anatomy seems perfect for the first pic, but maybe your female anatomy needs a little work, it looks off to my somehow.
sorry if what i say sounds rude, i dont mean for it to, i dont normally post things on this sort of thread O^O"

Hmm Yeah I see. I do use outlines up until the end and I erase most of them because realism looks weird with black outlines >w< But no that's fine I really appreciate your honesty 3nodding It's something I can work on now

you dont have to make the lines black, i almost never ake line art or outlines black, normally just a dark color of what color they are mostly O^O it looks pretty cool, you should try that ^-^

I don't think there's anything wrong with your art, maybe you just need more advertising/exposure? (do the people that used to buy your stuff know you're open again?) Have you tried joining Christmas-chan's auctions? Or other popular artist joint auctions? Maybe try to guest artist in highly frequented artist places? Or try to get on during peak american times? Or maybe try hitting threads in the new Request forum?

GORGEOUS!!!!! : D !!!! heart I love your art, its so beautiful!!!!!! I doupt anyone would be discouraged to buy your art because of how it looks. : D Your drawings are beautiful! and the attention you put to your details and shading is very impressive : 3
As for why its not selling. May I ask you a few questions? cause this does affect how much your art will sell.
-How much do you charge for your art? : 3 -How well publicized are you?
I have a shop as well, and I used to keep it open for realistic commissions but also for anime. I discovered that yes, on sites like gaia and other avitar base sites, anime is a big win over realistic drawings. However! my realistic drawings still sold from time to time. So if your looking to sell hers some suggestions I have for you : 3
Well evaluate your price once you tell me, but one thing you should really consider is publizicing your art!... By this I mean, making banners, and exchanging banners with other popular art shops : 3 Post your artwork in places like the picture post and have a link to your shop in your signature so people can easoly access your shop. Have a link to your shop in your profile, so people who check out your profile can check out your shop. Have little bumper competitions in your shop to help keep the activity going, but also keep your shop more on the top page! For freebies for bumpers it dosen't have to be anything extravagant neither can just be a quick face sketch : 3
I think your a very talented artist, and theres nothing wrong with your style, the only thing your missing is publicity! Because your working in a medium thats beautiful but less favored over anime, you need to compensate with showing off your art to more people, in order for it to pick up. You just need to show it off more, and I'm sure you'll get noticed 3nodding

I think is gorgouse you art, maybe is the prizes your using.
but also, I notice some errors in some of your anatomy, so you should practice a little but of it, also try to work the hair a little more. but this is a small feedback on things I know you will get better. C:

Snow Mishibari -- yeah I guess I could try that, but idk....I think it still just looks weird with the style. I mean I live it for the hands and stuff, but making a darker outline where light is it would look kind of awkward I guess? Oh well it's work a shot
Vanna1994-- Why thank you :3
demon blurry eyes-- Hmmmm I've been doing a ton of advertising, exchanging banners and all that stuff.
I tried to join auctions several times but most often they didn't want my style. Plus I don't know how to get super good artists to wanna join an auction with me. If they respond to me at all it's a "No/I'm busy/I don't have time/Your style isn't what I'm looking for/ etc" My style is in the middle. It's not horrible, but it's not great either >w<
yeah no one likes my style in the request form either XD I guess that's just my problem. It's not a good style
Kai_Chi-- Thank you! -I usually charge about 300-500k for a bust [I've seen chibis go for more than that and other busts at about my skill level go for 800k] Waist-ups=800-900k and Fullbody=1.5mil I think it's reasonable for the amount of time and work I put into it considering people will buy chibis for 500k
-I've done art for over 300 Gaians since I've joined.....It's hard to tell though really. I don't know how to figure that out >w<
I haven't had a single customer for my recent anime styles either :/
and yeah I've been trying that but it doesn't really seem to get me anywhere.I guess I should wait a little longer but still
luzhikari-- yeah I've been trying to get those down >w< They a lot better than 6 months ago though! lol
What do you mean by the prizes?

everybody already had their say, so I don't know how much my opinion adds, but I'll give it a try.
you're colouring your art realistic, which isn't a bad thing, but, your anatomy and facial drawing skills are just not at the same level yet as the colouring is. It's still all a bit off, and wooden. There's no live in it. Your faces are overall without emotion. And looking at your noses for example, you shade them all completely straight, with no curves or bumps in it. And for me, that completely alienates the entire face.
People pay for quality, and what they find attractive at the moment. So if someone else sells chibis for 500k, doesn't mean you can ask the same or more because you draw bigger and spend more time on it. It's the same as in RL. Supply and Demand. When people want something bad enough, they're willing to pay the price for it. Sadly for you, this means that the price you're sticking to your drawings, isn't what people are willing to pay for it.
My advice, do some auctions. Let people offer on it, see what the line where most people are willing to bid is, and stick to that price for an art shop.

You should definitely work on female anatomy. You don't have to go too in-depth. Take pictures of real people, and sketch a little bit every day, or every other day. I prefer drawing girls myself, so the female form comes a lot more naturally then the male form. Generally I find I have to practice a bit before I'm comfortable enough to do my best on a commission lets say.

I'm pretty sure people have pointed out some things you might want to work on. I, myself, think your artwork looks great. Since we're all seeing with different eyes and we all have different taste in art, we're all probably going to like/dislike what's being displayed. For example, I love your figures, their facial features, poses, softness, color palettes......but in my own opinion, your images can be taken to another level. You could somehow push the envelope and go a shade darker or emphasize/focus on the most important part of your image. There are so many things going on in some of your work that it takes away from the actual figure itself. The "Holly Latif" image is lovely. I think the figure has such a striking face, but when paired with all these different elements, gets lost. Don't know which program you are using, but perhaps if you used the burn tool, you might be able to bring her to the forefront instead of having her mesh into the background. (I'm not even sure I'm making sense....lol, I don't even understand what I'm saying...lol....Sorry, my apologies).
But, anyway.........You shouldn't be discouraged. You have to stand by your work if you love it. If your artwork speaks to you, then you really have nothing to worry about. Really, take a step back and ask yourself if you yourself think something is missing.
