I know theres a lot of people who loved to do drawings for art contest, but I know a lot of people also don't like drawing for contest, because theres no garentie you'll get something for your hard work in exchange.... what do you guys think about art contest?

█ On gaia, I don't really care about them because I lost interest in gold xD
In real life, I have done two for fun, but I don't expect to win. It's great to meet other people there :3

oh really? how do you find these types of contest in real life? I've never really gone searching for them, but it seems like a fun idea to try as well : 3

█ I hear about them from my friends that go to other high schools since I live in a pretty big city (Houston). I also currently work part time with a local gallery, and most of the time they host their own ~

I gave up doing art contests. Far too many times they never announce a winner and just take the art and run. One time I entered one and a friend of there's had offered out prizes to a few of the artists since the host of the contest kind of disappeared without a word. So I just don't do them any more.

@Bananna: wow... really... thats terrible, I've never seen a hit an run contest yet, but I would be angry as well if it ever happened to me... can you report them when they do that? I guess you still won't get paid but still... : ( ouch thats crappy

I've been entering one or two of my drawings at our state fair the past couple years.
But on gaia, I almost never do them since there usually drawing avi art. Im very lazy when it comes to doing avi art.
Ive entered maybe.. one contest that I can think of on here, I lost to a poorly drawn girl in a bikini... (Not to say Im that awesome, but you should have seen the art there. The person who deserved first I dont think even got first)

i dont ever enter them for a few reasons
1) like you said, no guaranteed prizes
2) most the ones i see, even for the grand prize, i make more money in a normal commission.
3) im not too interested in gaia gold anymore
4)most competitions iv seen want furries drawn and i dont do those.

i actually like them sometimes. i might go into a funk where i feel like all my art sucks or i get artists block or whatever... and a friendly contest helps motivate me. i get to see other's art and even if i don't win, drawing or coloring art to participate in something with others is fun to me. : )
of course, that being said... i haven't actually done many. i suppose if i did it a lot more it might get old eventually, idk. : p
