Currently I'm getting more involved with my church. In doing this, I feel the need to understand more.
A pastor at my church offers a 'Christianity Basics' course, which I am taking.
Would it be okay if I posted what I learn from the book she provides us with here? I will ask her for permission to do this before I start, and keep in mind that it's done in a classroom setting, so there's a lot of discussion involved that I won't be able to rewrite here.
If she doesn't allow me to do this, then I will delete this post and thread.

Nope, if you need to jump through loops to post what others teach as "Truth" then well... I don't trust those whom work in secret.

Anything is welcome here, but I do not understand why you would have to get permission. Learning the Word of God is astonishing. This guild is set up for people to learn. c:

I do, however, make footnotes, so I'll post those too. Yes, I did get permission. biggrin

Not just the word, but the entirety of our doctrine. EDIT: Put it this way: It makes me feel better for her to know that her course is being taught with permission.

EDIT: After reading the Course Introduction, it seems I was wrong. You were right; I apologize.

COURSE INTRODUCTION
PURPOSE : To provide an opportunity for people to freely examine and discuss the Christian faith.
GOAL : To present fundamental truths about Christianity from a Biblical perspective.
Some people choose to be a Christian because they say it...
* Gives them STRENGTH for daily living, * Helps them find COMFORT in difficult times, * Provides PEACE about dying.
The BEST reason to be a Christian is LOVE!
Our creator invites us into a love relationship with him, and we should respond to that invitation by returning love to him.
When we love God we obey the greatest COMMANDMENT ( Read Matthew 22:37-38 ).
Our understanding of Christianity must be supported by the teachings of scripture.
CHALLENGE : It can be difficult to sift through the many opinions regarding how to become a Christian, and how to live the Christian life.
SOLUTION : By adopting a Biblical view of Christianity, its practices and teachings; confusion and frustration can be minimized.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CHRISTIAN?
A CHRISTIAN is a DISCIPLE or follower of Jesus Christ.
One who gives CONTROL of their life over to God and begins demonstrating their trust in him by living in obedience to his word.

ACK. Sorry sorry sorry SORRY for not updating this a long time ago. I finished the course now, though, so the rest of the book will be up shortly.
Also, I put where to find related verses, and not the verses themselves, so that you could shake the dust off your bibles and get used to flicking through and finding stuff. World's Oldest Book that nobody reads... we need to change that.
