In the early 1899, Cirque de Mystique was created by some French immigrants. When they debuted in 1900, their small group of freaks were an instant hit. But after over a hundred years of being a traveling circus, their acts have been burnt out. No one takes interest in the same old things year after year. Sure, there's a mermaid, but it's nothing new to the circus-goers. And in these hard times, less people are coming to the circus, and Cirque de Mystique is suffering especially badly. They need something new. Something no one has ever seen. Something no one has ever even imagined. And after a three-month search, they've finally found it: a human marionette. She's a living, breathing human, but she has joints like a marionette. And, to emphasize the effect, she's had strings attached to her arms and legs. The people at the circus make sure that she is always isolated from the others so that she comes off meek and shy to the audience. But one day, someone knew is assigned to bring her food and water. It's a young man, a new assistant. She is not supposed to have contact with anyone, but she and this boy have much in common. They spend the time they have chatting and getting to know each other better. And with each passing day the girl finds herself becoming more and more entranced with the boy. But everyone's past catches up with them sooner or later...
