Though we come from different countries and speak different tongues, our hearts beat as one.❞ ~ dumbledore

There was once a young child, birthed to royalty.

She had a wonderful family, supportive and strict.

Her sisters were taught a certain way and she was taught the same.

Her father was king and her mother was queen.

Her mother is beautiful, with long, dark hair. Her father handsome, with short dark hair. Both had very beautiful features.

Her sisters were envied by many, but loved by all. They had no shame in showing their true selves and showing their true beauty. Courted by princes from distant lands, they were not afraid.

The youngest, the child, the princess was to claim the throne lest her sisters could not.

Her father ran a fair kingdom. And every time they were to make announcements and physical appearances, they would wear armor with their crests on the chests. The mother wore a dress truly suiting her beautiful features; The father wore armor that gave him an even stronger looking demeanor; the sisters wore beautiful gowns like young fairy-tale princesses.

The youngest wore everything she could to hide her body and face. She asked kindly to each servant and maid and caretakers to remove mirrors so she could not look at herself.

Her sisters did what they could to help the youngest see the true beauty to her features, but she did not.

It began when the child was not as carefree as she used to be and she truly got a good look in the mirror. The child burst into tears and ran to her mother.

“I’m too bony!” She sobbed. “My eyebrows are too bushy! My teeth aren’t straight and I have greasy skin!”

The mother looked worriedly at the king, who spoke words to calm the child. The mother followed suit, but the child wouldn’t hear none of it. She therefore spent years in hiding, never to show herself to be courted by princes, like her sisters.

One day, the sisters were off to discover their princes’ castles. The father and mother suggested for the princess to take the opportunity to leave the castle. She wouldn’t hear of it. However, ordered by her fair, but strict father, the child reluctantly left in the most disguised carriage she could find. She wore an ancient kitsune (fox) mask brought from the lands of Japan by the emperor. She disguised her hair under a large turban from the sultan of the Arabian lands. She wore the ugliest dress she could find that covered every inch of her body. Stepping out from the carriage finally, when she could not sit in it any longer, many of the villagers were frightened by her strange appearances.

Tears rimmed the young woman’s eyes when suddenly, a man took her hand. Behind him was a group of the friendliest faces you would ever see.

The man hair short, brown hair, a pair of scholar glasses and wore shining, silver armor. Behind his lenses were the brightest, golden brown eyes, sparkling with live. He knelt in respect, and the females and males behind him bowed and curtsied along. Taken by surprise, the princess spoke,

“Are you not afraid by my looks, dear prince?”

He pressed gentle kisses on her hand, before straightening and letting out a soft laugh. “I am amused by the disguise you wear. Telling by your voice, princess, you are beautiful under all that.”

He slowly rose his gloved hand and removed her turban, letting loose her long, dark curls. She gasped in alarm.

“No! You won’t be so amused once you see my true face!” She clutched at her mask, but the prince shook his head, then indicated for the group behind him to help unravel her.

A tall, blond artist removed the girl’s ugly sleeves. The princess gasped.

“My shoulders are too bony!”

The blond smiled. “They suit your frame just fine.”

Two smaller girls replaced the ugly skirt with an elegant crimson one. “My legs are too thin!”

The girls grinned and spoke in unison. “They are perfect to us!”

Three women, a tan, kind one and two dark haired sisters replaced the torso of her dress to one that hugged her body.

“My chest is too small, and I am too thin!”

They all hugged her gently. “You are a small woman. Your chest is just fine and you have wonderful curves.”

A motherly looking woman with auburn hair sat her down carefully and replaced her ugly, muddy brown shoes with shimmering gold, glass heels. “My feet are horrendous!”

The woman kissed the smaller girl’s forehead and smiled. “They are petite and adorable.”

A dark-skinned, tall male bestowed jewelry on her wrists and ears. “I am not deserving of these!”

“Child, you are deserving of all the diamonds and gold in the world.” He laughed heartily.

Finally, the prince placed his hands on the edges of her mask. She was sobbing from the wonderful words they said and she gently placed her hands atop his to stop him.

“My eyebrows are bushy. My face is greasy. I am ugly.”

Regardless of her words, he removed her mask and smiled the biggest smile, the group behind him letting out pleased gasps.

“You have the face of an angel.”

Tears streamed down her slightly tanned cheeks. Her lower lip was trembling. Carefully, the females traced her lips with a soft shade of pink gloss and pulled away. Her deep brown eyes looked into the prince’s as he gently pressed his lips against hers.

“You are the most beautiful girl in the universe. Don’t ever forget that.”

The prince courted the princess, and from that day, not only did she make her own little family… but she left the castle more often, wearing the same beautiful dresses her sisters wore.
