I have heard about this..but not into details. Anyone know why? I think it's because our Eid is the day before and for some reason they think Muslims are celebrating 9/11 instead of Eid? Which is stupid....

I mean fine, think what you want, but BURNING THE QU'RAN? Sounds a hypocritical to me. And of course ignorant.

Oh well. The Qu'ran is just a book. Ink on paper. The words of the Qu'ran are Gods words and they are in our hearts. We don't need a material item to tell us we are Muslim and what we believe.

So what's your opinion on this matter?

i first heard this on Hardball... this girl, sherry wolf, called out my hom etown and said we were calling 9/11 "burn the quran day", and calling us all bigots.

i was pissed. i'd not heard anyone in town say that at all. i felt smeared. it was rude, it was a lie, it was persecution.

a few days later, after asking dozens of people if they have hear dof this "burn the quran day" and nobody hearing about it even once, i hear from my sister's boyfriend that there is this one church on the edge of town that is doing that. apperrently they have a facebook page of it and everything.

but it's a small and scattered gathering of folks, only a handfull of people in any given place. on facebook it looks large, sure, but the individual adherents are few and far between.

i think that what this church is ding is disgusting and despicable, but it is definitely not something to represent my home city. sad it is one tiny congregation giving an entire University city (the most integrated city in my entire State, and which LOVES people of ALL cultures and ethnicities) a bad name and reputation.

it pisses me off.

Well I'm not really sure where it's being held. I only thought it was just one church but now it's different churches in different states or what?

i think it started with this "dove's outreach church of christ" here in Gainesville, which preaches that anyone who isn't straight, white, and christian are going to hell, but that after they made their facebook page a bunch of other small churches nationwide started following the same bullshit.

but it's sill no more than a few hundred people per state, and not even in every state.
