Edward Elric. Alphonse Elric.
Looking at them you can see that they are not two normal boys. After loosing Alphonse's entire body and two of Edwards limbs, they set out on a quest to get them back.
Edward Elric is a state alchemist, a dog of the military, his first and foremost reason to becoming a `dog` is for information leading to the philosophers stone - the only thing that can help them get their bodies back. But most leads to the stone have been severed, no one knows how to make one or where one could possibly be; so Ed and Al are trying to find everything they can.

The first stop on their journey lands them in Reeole, a small secluded town where a profit is said to be able to do `magic`. Thinking that it's the philosophers stone they head there, only to be let down that the phrophet was using a fake.
On their way back to headquarters they meet someone and reluctantly bring her along with them in hopes that she might know something like she leads on.

It was hot, and there was an uproar. The towns people seemed to be in a frenzy, which was unusual since the phrophet kept them under his big clamy hands. It was obvious that he controlled the people through religion, but then again who didn't take advantage of this?
During her regular two day stay she'd already learned the most basic facts of the town, the people relied on him not physically but mentally.

Currently she was at a small bar, leaning on the counter while she looked around. What she got from the town gossip was that the prophet had fallen, he'd been revealed as a big fake; no surprise there. But instead of the people trying to find their own path they fought amoungst each other.
"What would we do without the sun god?!"
"Who cares? He was a fake prophet! His words were untrue!"
"How dare you defy the words spoken from god!"

War raged on between the people, but it wasn't really any of her business, besides it was the second day - time for her leave anyways.

Kari wore her regulatory clothes, a dress, shoes and a half jacket - short sleeves with a hood - she also had a backpack, used for keeping change along with other things.
But she was getting strapped for cash, after all town hopping wasn't cheap and being on the run wasn't making it any better. She continued to lean forward, putting both elbows on the counter while her eyes became downcast. The bar keep was wiping down the other side of the counter, the water evaporating quickly due to the slight heat. Her attire wasn't appropriate for day to day wear but it did make good for quick escapes.

Quickly she reached down, but she did have to give her props to the bar man; he had sharp eyes but sadly he was too slow.
"Hey! Get back here!"
Kari had already pushed herself away from the bar, smiling and saluting him. "Sor-ree! But I have to do what I have to do!" With that she turned round and ran, toward the outer city limits of course.
"So-some one catch that girl!" The bar keep wailed, waving his arms and pointing but the towns people just watched; as if it were a show.
On the upside she didn't feel too bad, he must have had quite a bit of money from his small side cafe because he hadn't even run after her; no one had. She grinned, feeling more giddy than the chesire cat while she counted her goodies and let her quick steps lead her down a path of homes.

Kari ran at top speed, the noise the bar keep was making no longer was audible due to the wind brushing past her ears; and then it was all over.
She felt herself come to a stop, being tugged slightly back. Hands were on her upper arms, right below her shoulders and she truned her head around looking; scowling.
But her scowl fell a bit flat, behind her wasn't just any guy but a guy in armor.
Good, I don't have to go easy on him.

She let her eyes go down and then look back up at him, watery and big. "You're right, I'm sorry. I just...needed money. I'll give it back." Once again Kari looked downwards, slacking her shoulders and making her body weak.
Already she could tell that he was falling for it, from the way he spoke to the way his hands had become less firm around her arms.

That's when she took her chance.

She pulled her body down and felt his hands just slide off of her, out of every motion to choose from he probably wasn't expecting her to fall. But why not play with them a little more? She turned herself around and let her heels slide, moving her backwards.
Quickly her mind worked, the smartest move would obviously be to hurt his head, a frontal attack would never work - so thats just what she did. Kari lifted her leg, pulling it forward and extending it out into a high-kick.
She got just the reaction she wanted, she could see him lean back just a bit and his helmet fell off easier than she thought it would; and then she saw why.

The top came off but there was nothing underneath. Kari's leg crinkled back to her, her arms that were pulled in at the sides of her chest had lowered to her waist while her leg had also fallen down to the floor; her shoe soundly clacking to pavement. "You're...empty."

Kari furrowed her brows, pulling herself away and stepping back again and again. She clenched one side of her jaw, putting her hand on her head and holding it.
The one in armor, she'd seen him before - no, someone like him; and then it hit her. His soul was bound to that armor, just like number fourty-eight. The worst part was that they seemed to be in cahoots, teammates and then a thousand idea's ran through her head.
Never before did she meet anybody like him, unless she was being towed around by Envy; being shown what she was supposed to do. But that was short lived since she ran away.

She continued backing up, her heart racing. Who were they? The only option she could think of was that they were some how with Envy and them, looking for the same thing.

"Stop, stay away." Kari frowned, her heart still racing while her breath had become quicker more hastened. "I'm not going back with you," she started shaking her head, slowly at first but as she became more and more panicked her shaking became more vigorious.

Kari fell to the floor, slapping her hands onto the pavement; gritting her teeth as she swallowed. "I'm not going to be your sacrifice!" At that moment she had constructed a tall wall between them, of course she knew she wasn't enough to beat them; to defy 'Father' but she couldn't carry out what they wanted her to do. How could someone agree to give their life to die? It sounded so contridicting, so weird, but it was true.

The worst part was that she didn't even know where they had picked her up, she was just there.

With the wall up she staggered to her feet, standing and becoming wobbly as she continued to back up. If she ran they'd probably catch her, and then what?

She kept backing up, shaking her head and pulling her arms into herself; anything to try and shield her body, no matter how useless it might be.
Kari stopped, looking at them for a moment while she tried to make her brain hurridly click to decide if they were lying or not.

Once again she stumbled backwards, her foot hitting the back of something, and her head spun around looking to see that it was the fountain. She let her arms flail as she staggered backwards, falling into the fountains banks.
The splash effect soaking her body, making her bangs stick to her forehead. "Central?"
Central had a lot of locations in it but the most known location was that it was basic symbol known for military headquarters. Kari focused her vision, looking at them, never before had she seen people so unique coming from there. "Are you from the military?"
For a moment she felt hopeful, after all the military was made to protect the people and didn't she need protecting? But what was going to guarentee that they would help her?

Her feet hung out of the fountains edge, her body weight resting on the palm of her hands as she slacked back a bit; finally calming down.
