Okay, I'll be the first to admit I'm poor. I don't have the money to drop $300-$600 on Painter, Photoshop, SAI, etc. I can't pay for it. I'm still using Painter Essentials!
So my question is, what software do you use, and do you know of good quality software - like painter, like photoshop, like SAI - that's FREE?
Can't wait to hear from you guys.

I believe there is one called Nekopaint. I heard it's like a free version of Sai. I don't know, I've never tried it, but that doesn't mean you can't

SAI isn't free. It's about 50 dollars, depending on how the Yen is doing the day you buy the license.
GIMP is free, as it's been said. I hate that program. Haha. I'd rather save up for SAI.

Mypaint- I don't really use it often, so I can't judge if it's good quality or not. But it is free. Sumopaint- Actually, I don't really know if sumopaint is free, but the online version is kinda fun to mess around with.

open canvas 1.1 is the way to go. it was designed specifically for tablet use.
and you an sometimes get paid programs for free. i got my corel painter pro X and anime studio debut for free. you just gotta keep an eye out. sometimes companies give their product away as a way to promote themselves
edit: i heard that paint.net is good and also free. i've never used it but i heard good things. i hope that helps
