Basic Information
Many different kinds of shotguns and shotgun gauges are present in the modern world; the most common being 28 gauge, 20 gauge, 12 gauge, 10 gauge, and .410 gauge. Despite this, several other key kinds, such as 10 gauge, 8 gauge, and even 4 gauge shotguns exist openly on the market. The 8 gauge styled shell was chosen for two reasons- first of all, it is much more powerful than the standard 12 gauge round. Secondly, the 8 gauge shotgun shell has similar dimensions to a 12 gauge shotgun, being roughly equivalent to the size of a "Magnum" type round, that is 3.5 inches long. The 8 guage, is of course, has roughly .11 inches wider diameter, although this translates to a rather small, but noticeable increase in circumference.
The round produces roughly 6000 joules, or can propel the equivalent of 56.7 grams at roughly 460 m/s. Usually, the round uses between 6-12 pieces of shot, being 4.8 and 9.6 grams respectively for minimum and maximum of the shot.
