I can suggest my favorites... But I can't make any guarantees you'll like them xp
Eels <-- My favorite band, but not everyone's cup of tea. Try 'Mr. E's Beautiful Blues', it's my happy song. Led Zeppelin Red Hot Chili Peppers Gorillaz The Fratellis <-- Lots of catchy melodies, you might be familiar with them and not know it The Beatles Dr. Steel <-- This is kind of the odd one out, but he has some very catchy songs The Unicorns <-- Adorable. Try 'Sea Ghost'. Vampire Weekend MGMT <-- Their new album is one of my most listened-to things now. Especially 'Brian Eno' Phoenix Regina Spektor Voltaire <-- The other odd one out. Either depressing or quirky, depending on the song you're listening to, but an amazing voice. The Decemberists Bob Dylan Aerosmith blur <-- Ditto with The Fratellis, except I'd be willing to bet money you already know their most famous song. Their other stuff is better, though.
And I found The Dismemberment Plan today... They're pretty weird, but I liked a TON of their songs, so they're my newest favorite.
And sorry for the huge list that you might not like any of the bands on D:

Rascal Flatts-Lots of more inspiration, ,love, and hurt because of love songs Big and Rich- a little bit more of a country band with rock music I guess you could say Brookes & Dunn- more Country Love & Theft- only have two songs that Ive heard, Dancing in Circles is kind of a 'why do we hurt each other' kind of song Sugarland- Different kinds of songs SheDaisy- dont know how to sum this one up Montgomery Gentry- Variety Steel Magnolia- New band, only heard two of their songs, and there more love songs. Little Big Town- tends to have some awesome vocals, there are four of them and they take full advantage of their numbers Alabama- Older Country music

The Millionaires Club. Or anything TG does, really. They're a local band in Washington, and they're awesome. Also, his mom does the Jazz/blues song he's got up. It gave me goosebumps. I'm not an obsessed fan. I just really, really heart Thom. http://www.reverbnation.com/themillionairesclub
