This is my second season marching bass, and I seem to do pretty good, but I CANNOT get my left hand to rotate! I've tried everything! I practice eights, I sit in the middle of class just rotating my wrist back and forth.
Its not that I cant just not rotate. I also just can't seem to get a good grip on the mallet. Like, my right hand feels fine, the mallet always feels snug in my hand, but with my left hand, the mallet always feels akward and weird. It always feels like it's about to slip out, and if I dont repostition it in the middle of an exercise, it sometimes does. What can I do to improve my left hand? Please help.

Yeah.... Um you might want to go and see a doctor, just to see if there is a medical condition present. I have been bass captain for the past two years and I also have carpel tunnel in my right wrist and often times it really hurts to play. To remedy the pain I went out and purchased a flexible wrist brace so that I can drum and still have wrist support. You might want to look into those. However, your problem may not necessarily be in your wrist or hand. It may originate further up in your arm and spread downward, you just might not know about it.

Yeah, Im getting better (Since I posted this almost 4 months ago), I ACTUALLY KINDA ROTATE NOW!! lol, sorry, Im excited. But I still cant find a good grip on the mallet. My left thumb starts to get numb and slips after awhile of playing. I practice alot, but I dont know how to fix it.
