In Japan, they are very superstitious when it comes to the number 4. This is because the number four in Japanese sounds like 'death'. (shi) In some hotels and hospitals, there would be no fourth floor. Hell, a camera company even skipped version 4 and went straight to 5 because of how superstitious they were! I wish I could remember what kind of camera...I learned about all this years ago in my TV Production class.
So, know any interesting Japanese superstitions?

Ok um. Nothing on google about black being lucky in Japan. However, I did find this. I don't know how helpful it is though: -In Japan, red and white are considered lucky.... -The color black is believed to contain all kinds of things and to have the power of protection Its for dolls, however.. http://cp.c-ij.com/en/contents/2022/03265/index.html

i got this information from bigsiteofamazingfacts.com : -In the United States and many other countries, a person would never wear white clothes to a funeral. Black is our color of mourning. But in Japan, black clothes would be out of place at a funeral, the Japanese color of mourning is white! -Many Americans and Europeans think that black cats are unlucky. But black cats are considered lucky in Japan. There's a Japanese saying that black cats "keep the devil away." i also have more info on neko black cats: maneki nekothat black on the cat mines good health Jentern Ok um. Kiwi Popp As far as I know, white has always been a color for death. @ .@ I know people wear black. . . But I never thought of it as THE color for death. xD Generally speaking, Western cultures (I.I., Europe, the US) use the color black for mourning and the color white for purity, hence the white wedding dress. On the other hand Eastern cultures, such as those of Japan and India, use white as a color for mourning while the color black is a symbol of power or simply inconsequential.
