Grown out of the PETA thread. What's your specialty, what you love to cook most of all? What's your recipe?
Mine is chili. Weapons grade, "burn your eyes out from the fumes" chili. I actually cook it wearing a gas mask and rubber chemical gloves when entertaining guests or cooking for others, just to add to the fun and psychological effect of it all.
My recipe is "soul food" style, just rough guesses:
2-3lbs of ground beef. 2 cans chipotle peppers 1 jar pickled jalapenoes However many habeneros I can get my hands on 1 tall can Tomato sauce, preferably onion & garlic type Sausage(uncooked) 1 can red kidney beans 1 large can or 2 small cans of black beans 1 small can great northern beans 4 cloves garlic 1 bundle(five or six individual) green onions/scallions half a white onion or a whole red onion However much cumin, paprika, salt, white pepper and any other spices that smell right you happen to think is enough.
First, defrost the ground beef and throw that into a large pot. Put the pot on the highest setting available and break up the beef into chunks with a spatula while it browns. LEAVE THE GREASE IN. Then turn the pot down a little(maybe 4/5ths power or so) and add water and tomato sauce, sauce first and then enough water to cover it all. Stir. Cut the garlic into "coins" along with the scallions. Cut the onion into slices. Dump the whole load in. Rinse and drain the beans, then dump them in. Slice the peppers thin and INCLUDING THE SEEDS dump them in. Let it sit for about ten minutes, then begin to season it to taste. I tend to dump large amounts in, so just do whatever seems right. After sitting for a bit, cut the sausage into coins or thin slices and add it.
Let the whole mess sit and simmer for an hour or two
Serve, preferably with sour cream. Sizes mentioned will serve five to six people comfortably, or can be stretched out to serve eight or more if they only have one serving. Any extra can be put on "warm" and left on the stove for up to a couple days, and gets better as it ages.
I recommend keeping a fire extinguisher in the bathroom and a gas mask by the door to the bathroom afterwards, especially if entertaining guests.

crying I can't cook. I swear, one of these days I'm going to burn a bowl of cereal somehow. But, I love to eat. These two things, unfortunately, don't mix well.

Everyone here LOVES my meatloaf! I put a bit of curry in it, no vegies... and for now on no hunks of onion... I also put minced garlic into it. It is Mm Mm good! I have a thread about immune boosting foods that has the entire recipe on it. People here also like my cabbage salad, which is the same as a garden salad but instead of lettuce I use raw cabbage. If I can find cheap bacon I'll be making a broccoli salad too. Which really isn't much of a salad, it's cooked broccoli with diced bacon and onion tossed in ranch dressing. In my pasta sauce I usually throw in some curry and whenever I cook pork. Actually I might make that meal again tonight. One night we had tenderloin strips but they were too small to make strips out of, so I sliced them into strips and fried them in curry paste. It was amazing!
I'm a huge fan of curry.

I make a sort of version of vegetarian tacos. :3 Nothing the least bit fancy or original, but it's tasty. To me, anyway. x3
Instead of meat, I dice up mushrooms, onion, and zucchini and fry them in a pan. I add cooked kidney beans and a handful of corn and simmer it with taco seasoning.
I usually put some shredded cheese in taco shells and put the cooked mixture on top of that so it melts. I top it with diced tomato, bell peppers, jalapenos, leafy spinach, and a bit of salsa, and sour cream.
And one of my favourite comfort foods is a variant of mac & cheese. I prefer gemelli pasta, though. Cook that through, add a little milk and margarine, and throw in shredded cheese. I usually use a mixture of old cheddar and Monterey jack cheese. :3 Then I stir in salsa or broccoli and chili pepper.

Desserts - Pies ( Chocolate, Cheesecake, Strawberry, etc etc ) - Cookies ( Choco Chip, Peanutbutter, etc etc ) - Cakes ( Cheesecake, Red Velvet, Chocolate, etc etc ) - Just all around desserts ( Yeah, that's just main ones above )
Salad I make pretty good salads. At least everyone I know eats it and likes it better than even restaurant style.
Salsa / Dips Self explanatory, yup.
-------------
Uh, yeah, I like to experiment a lot in the kitchen. So, I read a lot of recipes and take and put in things... I even just take ordinary easy things and put more in to see how it tastes.
xD
I dunno, I just like to cook, bake, and make and what not.

Those tacos sound really yummy, Tae.
I am ashamedly not much of a cook. I would love to learn to cook some things that do not come out of a box. My specialty? I can burn toast?
