So is anybody here trying out for or thinking of trying out for a drum corps? If so, which one? I'm auditioning for the Crossmen baritone line, I just got back from their first camp today... got a good score and I'm invited back to the next camp, so I've got a pretty good shot at making it. If I end up getting cut I'm gonna march with the Hawthorne Caballeros, a DCA corps by me.

I'm the lead bass for Cedar Rapids All City Drum Corps. It's not like other drum corps in that it's free and has a lot of young kids. Most of them are middle and elementary school. There's only a few people who are on the A-line that are in high school.

I really want to be in Crown. I live in Virginia, and that's the closest drum corps to us. Besides, one of our old (and most amazing) drummers is in Crown! <3

I wanted to join Capital Sound in Madison, WI... but Mom claims I have no time for it. Or money. But I do!
I also wanted to go to the audition camp for Phantom Reg heart , just to see what it's like, but audition camps are way expensive.

I LOVE the crossmen uniform, lol. Sorry, I think they are super sexy, lol. we get new uniforms next year, and i tried to get my bd to go for the crossmen look, but alas, no luck. He said it would be 'stealing' the look, and asked me if i wanted every one thinking we were the crossmen. I replied "WHYNOT!! Super sexy and super good! I wish we were like that!!"
I had to run 2 laps after practice. lol, ok, not really, but seems like something he would do if mb was still around.
I wanna maybe go for Santa clara, I love them, but Im getting kinda bored with trumpet, 8 years has tired me out. I recently started playing bass drum (2 years ago) for winter percussion ensemble, but I suck, so I HIGHLY doubt I could make any corp on it. I do love it though, and would actually prefer to march bass over trumpet for a corp (Even though trumpet is still my baby and is closest to my heart heart )
My co-section leader made blue knights winter brass line and drum corp!! He has gotten SO good! I am a junior, he is a senior, and I've beat him every year for first chair, but over the last year, he has really been practicing his butt off, practicing 4 hours a night, and Im glad he got first chair for his senior year (FINALLY!!! lol), he deserves it. I hope he does good in blue nights (even though he is one of the lowest trumpets), and I will be there chearing for him. GO BROCOLLI!!!!! lol

I'd like to try out for a core someday. (mallet perc.) I'd probably try out for Blue Stars, where my friend marches, but I don't htink it'd be for a few years yet. I want more time to improve.

I'm only going to have played bass for 2 years by the time I graduate (sophmore, first year on line) so I doubt I'll ever get into a corps but I have friends trying out for cadets and other corps
