We always heard that Pokemon is a bad influence towards Islam.
But what is bad about it? Is it because of the names?
I see a lot of good values inside the story. So why not?
So the question is, what is it about Pokemon that is so bad about Islam.
Some said the word Pokemon itself means, "I am Jewish." Pikachu means, "be a Jewish." Charmander means "Allah is weak."
Now, where does this information comes from? How do they know those are the meanings?
I hope there's a valid resource about this. Because I know all of us wants to enjoy life without this so-called-facts.

I grew up with Pokemon...I never heard of this.
Pokemon was my childhood...seriously i had every pokemon game known to man....watched every pokemon movie, collected the cards... I'm sure i would have heard this somewhere.

Some people's only purpose in life is to make it harder on others. I have noticed even before I was a Muslim, it's a terrible trait people of all religions have. I guess you could call them haram police, even though Pokemon isnt actually a haram xD The Pokemon name meanings mean various things, but they are meanings to the Pokemon's powers. For example: Charmander. Char is like to burn, Mander comes from Salamander. The meaning if the word is "Burnt Salamander" which makes sense. It is the fire element, and it looks a bit like a salamander.
Pikachu is a combination of the Japanese onomatopoeia of electricity and a mouse squeak, PikaPika (electricity) and ChuChu (Mouse Squeak) So, a proper translation should be Cracklesqueek.I give this site a reference: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=231094In conclusion, the names are taken from both Japanese and English word meaning. But they dont convey a subliminal message; they describe the pokemon's real life animal, mixed with the element or power they have.

Anyway, we are just watching/playing it. Unless we gamble, then that's haram.

That gamble thing, at those towns...Yeah...I never do that in the games. I just play for fun. Seriously it is bullshit whatever they say about it. Nothing is wrong about Pokemon.

No it is not.
I agree with Apple, the names are mainly derived from Japanese words as well as English words.
Plus, I really like how it kind of persuades us to be kind to creatures...develop bonds, etc. There's nothing subliminal about that.
I play Pokemon Diamond all the time, Lol. I used to like Pokemon in my childhood but I like the new games better.

I love the game. I loved the anime, but then the newer seasons suck. The old ones are much better.
Anyways, you can't say that you haven't played a pokemon gamed and not enjoyed it.

I really don't see how someone can make something with over 400-sumsum names in it and not have any conflicts in any language. It's inevitable and, honestly, Islam inherited a lot from Judaism as well as Christianity.

People make the mistake that Islam is a new religion from the time of Prophet Muhammad (saw). They don't don't understand that Prophet Muhammad (saw) is the last Messenger of God to humanity, but there were thousands of Prophets before him, he only came to confirm to the true teachings of God, and God made His religion complete and final for all of His creations through His final Messenger (pbuh). Islam is actually the oldest religion since time began, since Adam (as) and it is rather the corruptions that made people deviate from Islam. Religions like Judaism and Christianity are rather innovated versions which were corrupted from the original teachings. Even the scholars of such religions agree to this as a fact. Islam basically means to submit you will to the Will of Almighty God. We Muslims believe Prophets like Moses (as) and Jesus (as) were Muslims because they submitted their will to the Will of Almighty God and thus worked for righteousness for guiding people in their place and time, Alhamdulillah (all praises be to God), peace smile

Asslamualaykum, well I agree with sister call me Apple, about how the names came about. But if you ask me personally I have nothing against Pokemon, I watched a lotta episodes later it became a lil boring for me lol no offense, and I watched a lotta movies also. I agree that sometimes they teach some good things about being kind to animals and living side by side. However as far as I know I found it hard to believe at first, but in some Middle Eastern countries like Saudi Arabia, Pokemon got banned cuz some people started taking the Pokemon creatures as gods Auzubillah. Probably it had some negative effects on the children so it got banned there. But in my country Bangladesh, this kind of silly thing did not happen Alhamdulillah, so its common for people to watch pokemon or even play with Pokemon cards (my brother had tons of em lol).
