I'm just curious heart

I like lolita because it makes me different than those around me.
It also allows me to be more than just a regular teen who worried about the latest trend.
With lolita I can use black AND still look cute!
In a way I am rebelling against whats "in" and "out" but I use beautiful clothing instead.

Also I never really got to be a "little girl" and it fun to dress up!

That's why I do Lolita

i love lolita for so many reasons. It was never to stand out or be different. It was simply because i love it. I actually hate standing out, id like it if the whole world was lolita so i wouldnt be the odd one out.

I love the way it looks, feels, everything. Im just a natural born lolita. When i dress lolita i feel beautiful and more like myself. When i wear casual or "normal" clothes i feel like im hiding in them. When i wear lolita i feel like this is me.

So to put it simlpy i wear lolita because it makes me feel like myself.

Hmm, there's a few reasons.
As a craftsperson, I love Lolita because it's an art in itself. Just like dollmaking, only you are the doll. I take great pride in making my dresses, even though I could save up for my own.
And simply because it is a welcome change from all the miniskirts and tanktops which I am just not comfortable in. I prefer to look cute and classic, not sexy.

I like the way it looks, and I enjoy the prints. I love sewing Lolita clothing, and making the related crafts. Plus browsing egl and egl_comm_sales is addictive.

Also, I enjoy the company that wearing Lolita has introduced me to. I've made some good friends because of the fashion and meetups.

ps. Lolita is not a verb, you need to specify... dress, love, wear, etc.

I love lolita because I feel like it takes us back to a time where girls were still quite feminine and dressed conservatively. They weren't wearing the tightest shirts and the shortest skirts, trying to show off all the goods. I guess in a sense I like to rebel against the current p***y-cat-doll-inspired, everything is made of some sort of crappy knit fabric fashion scene going on because I think it's terrible. Plus, it's an adorable, innocent fashion (and being part of a Japanese sub-culture doesn't hurt).

Why do I dress lolita? Or I should say, when I choose? I could on and on about how I got into this style and all that fluff, but it really comes down to how it combines cute, goth (or what have you), and different (not to forget I feel like a princess in it~ ; ) ). As sewing is a hobby of mine, lolita clothes are a challenge and satisfying in many ways to construct. I have yet to experience a meet up, but I'm certain that would add a separate dimension to my love of this style. Any way you cut it, it's a fashion like any other fashion is; a style of clothing. Maybe your asking this question presuming that our clothes are a significant focus in our lives?

My biggest reason for being involved in the lolita communities is because of the people I meet.

I love the clothes and the aesthetics behind their designs, I find the literature and history of the periods which inspired the fashion fascinating, and I simply adore playing dress-up, even if I am an adult; however, it's the people that make it all worth it.

If I didn't like the friends I have made through lolita, I probably would have given it up ages ago and become simply an admirer of the fashion rather than someone who actually collects the pieces and wears them. A lot of the fun for me in dressing up is going out to see my friends and hang out with them. My classes at university when I first got into lolita, and the job that I hold now, have neither really been conducive to wearing the style. Weekends are open, but usually spent at home cleaning or lounging on the couch with my boyfriend like a lazy lump.

If I didn't have meet-ups to attend, I probably wouldn't get to wear it often at all.

The first lolitas I met were infinitely inspiring, and the girls I've continued to meet since then are all amazing people as well. There've been a few that were less pleasant, or with whom I did not click, but that happens everywhere and isn't a lolita-related phenomenon in the least.

I always couldn't figure out my style, it took me years when everyone was in there cliques and had there style and they just became another one of the punks or jocks. Well as a lolita i stand out and now feel like im truly me! Now just want to meet and make friends with fellow lolitas heart

Definitely seconding this one. Not too long ago I was filtering my friends list to those who I know I see often or who comes back everyone once in a while to hang, and I saw that I've met at least 86 people alone, and that's only on my friendslist, and I know I had to have met at least 10-20 more people. Which is pretty ******** amazing, especially since a handful of those people came to visit from foreign countries (and some of them even came back to hang out again!), which I think is something that doesn't always happen to everybody. Sure, I have my advantages because I'm in NYC but without having a common love for the fashion I wouldn't have met and got to know so many people.

I dress in lolita because it's pretty.
I like looking in the mirror and seeing a princess stare back at me.

I admire the style~
It's elegant and artistic as well as being cute. I've always loved the victorian style, so lolita clicked with me right away.

Though I haven't dressed up in Lolita yet, it seems wonderful to look like a princess of some sort instead of wearing today's "fashions".
