I'm having considerable difficulty trying to put in a new picture in my signature because the URL character counter for the signatures keeps reading my guild banner as 216 characters. I counted it myself and I counted 139 characters including the tags and all. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Maybe there is an alternate way to code it. confused
I replaced the image in my code with regular text and now I have tons of space. My picture should have fit though. Odd...

Did you try the tinyurl that you recommended to me before?
Otherwise, I'm glad to see my little doodle of you in your sig. :3

I love it Green! xd This is actually the first avi art I have had in my entire time on Gaia. blaugh heart
I didn't realize this until you had trouble with that banner that I made for you, but Gaia has filtered out tinyurl by default. Everyone used to use it, and people would put out banner codes with using it. So, now the only people who can see any of the pics that use tinyurl are the people who have changes the default setting so that all images can be shown. I changed mine, but I have a feeling that most of the people on Gaia haven't changed their settings. But, even if I were able to use tinyurl with it, the counter is still reading the number of characters wrong. I can't figure out what to make of it. I thought about using tinyurl to shorten the link to the guild, but that would have the problem of "you are leaving Gaia blah blah blah..." with it before it redirects you back to the guild. I ended up just taking off the guild banner. It was hogging my signature space as far as the characters are going. It is kind of bulky anyway. I was thinking with going with a lighter one in the future. The biggest mystery to me is why we are only allowed 255 characters in our sigs.

That isn't it. I've taken out bits of code one at a time. The counter works for every other bit of code except for this one banner. It's really odd. But, it was a good idea.

disasterbation the death of a nation manipulate yourself I figured it out. Okay Each section of code is a certain number. The code for the IMG is 78. The code for the URL is 60 on its own. When you wrap the URL around the IMG code it doubles the IMG code because it's coding it twice (once for the IMG around the picture code, and once for the URL code around the IMG-picture-code). If you take the 78 and double it, the number comes out to be 156. Add another 60 and you have your 216.
*flexes* biggrin Now for fixing it... that's a bit more difficult considering other than tinyurl I don't really know of any other site like that... especially one that won't show a link. *shrugs in defeat* we're so weak for blaming persuasion never life-based hard immitation
