He's been trying to grow a goatee style beard for like a year now..And its not working xD

Hes only 19, so...maybe thats why? Some men have trouble growing facial hair and some dont. Also, hes fair headed, so when he does get some..its light coloured peach fuzz. Needless to say, hes quite let down ><

Are there any brothers here who have the same problem?
Whats your age (or if it is a man you know, whats his age)?

here's a bit of a funny story along those lines.

i'm 19, my brother is 18, my sisters are 16 and 9-going-on-10. i am only half-related to all my siblings.

so, i started growing facial hair by age 12, and i already had a full goatie before Eli got his first chin hair! xd right now i have side-burns and a goatie, and it takes less then a week for my whole neck to be covered in beard hair, while he doesn't even have to shave his chin, it's barely even visible! xd he used to be super jealous about it, until we passed our awkward stages and both look pretty awesome now (except for that i still have terrible acne). smile

Edit: and married at 19!? O.O damn, it seems like everyone i talk to is marrying young... i have an 18 year-old friend that just got married. she's been engaged and living togetherw ith her now-husband for about a year now.

It's alright! I know a few guys who barely have any facial hair. To me, it's just as relevant as any other phenotypic trait: complexion, hair texture, eye-color, hight... etc. etc.

You either have it, or you don't. A lot of times, it's genetic. Other times it depends on your environment (your diet is one main thing: hair is protein).

Personally, I have never had that problem. My beard actually started growing from the sideburns down. My mustache is not very thick, hence my Gaia avi does resemble me a little.

One funny thing I noticed though is that my beard's color is slightly lighter than that of my head's, especially in the summer.

Strangely, my 8'o'clock shadow appears within 12 hours of shaving, but I can hardly grow any actual beard past 2-3 cm even when I tried too. I guess my Sikh friend was right when he said most young people shed much faster than they grow beard.

My cousin has facial hair. Seriously? You are married at 19...I guess people do marry young. I thought you were older....(No offense...)
I know a lot of Muslim guys at my high school who have facial hair.

Assalamualaykum, lol well sister, I saw this topic it was funny...sorry no offense...but anyways finally I was like ok I'll post here, after I went through the other topics, Alhamdulillah. Well I know beard is something that is different for different people. Some people have good growth, other have like sparse growth, others have limited growth and maybe others don't have any. But those can go grow should keep as much as they can manage; as far as I know it's compulsory for men to keep the beard, but to keep the beard length to one fist is the best, and he will be Rewarded with more Blessings by Allah, Insha'Allah. I myself did not have the best of growth, but I took my motivations from Dr. Zakir, that someone who doesn't look the best in his beard and yet keeps it for the sake of Allah, Insha'Allah he will get more Suwab or Blessings. So tell the brother your hubby to try his best, and he won't be blamed for something that is not in his control, and Allah Knows best, Alhamdulillah. smile
