vacation, business, school, whatever. going green is easy at home, but how about on the road? planes, charter buses, and the old camper truck don't seem to be very practical anymore, and the economy took care of anything big and exciting. with the options narrowing, there are a few unique places that can be found, maybe locally, that might be kinda fun. i found this article in an on-line magazine, on eco-lodges:
http://www.naturalhomemagazine.com/Inspiration/2005-01-01/Top-10-Eco-Destinations-in-North-America.aspx?utm_content=NH+eNews+9.3.09&utm_campaign=Mailings&utm_source=iPost&utm_medium=email
my mother likes to go down to mexico with my uncles, and they stay in eco-lodges all the time. they have a pretty good time. also, i heard about vacations that you could go to another place, and do community service work while you're there.
thoughts? comments? post to collect the gold?

great. now, let's take that a step further, for the sake of conversation. if you could make the best dream vacation, and do it 'green', what would it be? xd

metal walflower great. now, let's take that a step further, for the sake of conversation. if you could make the best dream vacation, and do it 'green', what would it be? xd I would drive an electric or hybrid car to a campsite near a lake. I would sleep in a tent at night and rent a kayak (or a paddleboat, but they're only fun with friends) during the daytime.

This summer I stopped in Ithaca NY on my way up to Niagara and I was happily surprised to find a lot of eco-friendly lodging. In the tour guide they listed which hotels recycled or had all energy star appliances or other eco-friendly practices. There was a green bed and breakfast or you could stay in a tee-pee or a yurt. I really hope that this trend is followed in other tourist areas. Great topic by the way!

so, i was walking to work today (not really a good idea, since i tend to wander instead of just get to work), and i noticed that there were a lot more people that were doing the same thing. i mean, it used to be pretty quiet walking in the fall and winter, because most people aren't as crazy as i am when it starts to get cold. but now there are more people out on bikes and walking it seems. maybe it's a good thing the economy sucks - people are starting to think about saving, even if it's not a green thing. at least the end result is good.

Well, I walk places I want/need to go, I live by almost everything and don't go on vacations, if I wanted to I could just go to Canada or something lolol. I always see people biking nowadays since cars are too pricey and a lot of people are poor, at least they are helping the Earth.
