I'd like to talk about this subject.

Some info about me;
I dropped out of school. I think it was in Feb. of '09, I can't remember exactly what month it was.
But anyways. I wasn't one of those kids who said, "I hate school. I'm dropping out for no good reason."
I had many reasons.
Problems with the school system; Almost got my mom into trouble. I was sick a lot. I suffer from migraines that used to tend to last for long periods of time. And I mean long. When I got these migraines, I was not able to function properly. I could barely lift my head at times. There was one time I was hospitalized because of a migraine that seemed to last forever, I was in the hospital for a few days. The school was pissed because I missed so much school. I ended up switching schools in 10th grade, I think it was? And I still had a migraine problem. This school was okay with it for a while, and then we started to have problems again.
And that wasn't the only problem that came along. I ended up breaking my foot at my friends birthday party. I wasn't partyin' hard or anything. I simply was going down the stairs and fell. What sucked is that I fell down the last TWO steps and managed to totally screw my foot up. I had to get an operation, so they could take out some of the bone parts that shattered. They put two screws in my foot. Holyhell, that made it hurt so much worse.
No way I could go to that school without problems. Six floors and I'm in a wheelchair? No way am I going to get through that. So, we all decided I'd be homeschooled until I got better. That really didn't work out either. We started my classes late and ended them before I got to finish anything. Then I had to go back to school! I could walk by then, but not very well. There was still so much pain. I missed school because of it! I couldn't take it. And I still got migraines too. It seriously felt like hell everyday I was at school. What got me through some of it was some support from my friends. I hardly got to see them, but we spoke online a lot at that time. It's hard to find your friends in a big school that has way too many students.
Anyways. Doctor decided with my mom and I that we'd take out the screws in my foot since they caused me more pain. It hurt as bad after they were out, and I still had loads of trouble. [My foot is doing kind of better now, I just can't walk or stand more than an hour without extreme pain] My doctor wasn't that great though. He gave us no information. So, we switched doctors. Thank god we did! He told us so much more. He even spotted something my old doctor didn't; I had arthritis!
Have any of you guys heard or had cortisone injections? You might wanna look it up if you have no idea what it is. It hurts like a b***h. I've had a few injections, and it did help me out a bit. Just not long enough...
The school really got pissed at my mom and me... And my mom could have gotten into some deep s**t. I missed so much school.
My junior year, I wasn't even considered a junior! Not enough credits. Blahblahblah. If I had stayed in school, I would have been 21 years or older by the time I graduated. That wouldn't have been very great, hm?
So, after a long time of thinking and talking with my mom, I decided it'd be best I dropped out...
And shortly after I did, my grandma broke her arm! I stayed with her the first few days after she broke it. It was difficult for me. I had to take care of her while she was in the most pain. I did have some help from my mom, and that was great. It was like taking care of a baby, I got hardly any sleep at all.

At times I do regret dropping out, but that always passes after a few minutes. And if I ended up going back, I'd still have problems with missing school. I still get migraines and I still have problems with my foot. They wouldn't allow me to not take gym, and that would be very bad. I had failed gym 3 times, and with my messed up foot, I'd just fail it again! And the pain would pretty much kill me. Dx Not literally, but damn. I can't believe that...!

I still need to try to get my GED. I can't drive so I have to get rides and such to go to the place. Last week I had a ride to go and everything, but I was sick and had to miss it. Hopefully next week I'll go and get that done and over with! >__<;; I hope I pass the first test so I don't have to take classes to take the GED test thingy. I really hate that... You have to take a test to see if you're ready to take the real test... Come on, jeez. I think it's stupid.

Do any of you know anybody who dropped out or are you a drop out?
I'd like to hear your thoughts about things to do with drop-outs, etc.

I always said, "I'll never drop out!" But I never expected to go through all that mess, so argh!
My friend knew a guy who dropped out during his last year of high school. That just...sucked. He didn't have a reason to or anything. And he was graduating on time too. Hm, I just don't get why people would drop out without a reason...

I'm not a drop out and I don't know many people who dropped out at my school. One girl that did drop out was last year because she was pregnant and she's pregnant again neutral

Thats why most kids at my school drop out, because they are havin' babehs.

Only one kid dropped out of our school confused

Everyone went crazy and kept telling him he'll have no where to go.
He said he'll make money being a musician

Don't know where he's at now.

That sure happens a lot in some places.

i had to drop out. My teachers didn't teach, and they gave me a hard time because my sis told some of the techers off, and i had some of her teachers, and they hated my guts!! T.T
Also my mom needed help at the house since she's disabled, but anyway, I'm already set on getting my GED so hopefully my life isn't too screwed up, and i lookon the bright side of things. Man ok I'm done ranting lol. ninja

o.o I have to say I am starting high school and not so fun so if I might say I am not active... then I am doing HW or studying xP cry
I would like to have a good future so if I get banned from this guild it might be from doing school rather than laziness or I wouldn't be here right now xD
well I wish you could start school and all and I am sorry for your misfortunes. Life will still continue on and you will have plenty of opportunities to make up for lost time :]

I thought about dropping out, but I didn't have anywhere else to go. I was getting sick and tired of how public school was being run. I was one of those "Gifted" kids, which means I was really smart (don't believe me? I was reading in preschool, and could do basic square roots by third grade), but I learned in a completely different way from other kids. None of the teachers even attempted to find a way to include me in the lessons, though. All they did was suggest to my mom that I should be placed in the Special Ed program, as if I had a mental handicap; and when I proved to the school staff that I wasn't SE, they b****ed and moaned about how lazy I was, rather than taking the time to suggest to my mom a good tutor, or something. I would have dropped out too, but my parents would have kicked me out, so I stuck with it, stopped taking the classes I needed super extra one-on-one teaching in, and graduated middle of my class. I don't think anyone in my year dropped out, although we did have one girl who couldn't walk to get her diploma since she was about 8 months pregnant.

Good luck on the GED, Fatal!!!
