These are the first three paragraphs of my third essay. Since I haven't received many responses on my previous two, I don't have 'high hopes' for the response to this one, but I might be surprised when everyone decides that this is much funnier than the previous two and reads it.
Prompt:
~Write an essay about a current political topic that has spawned much debate.
Requirements:
~3-5 double-spaced pages.
~minimum of 7 sources (research widely!)
~MLA format.
~use an intro from sheet (separate handout)
~use one of two compare-and-contrast methods of paragraph topic organization (in-class notes)
Note that I neglected (purposely) to follow the final requirement - paragraph organization - because I felt it was too restrictive. Also, as you read, you might notice... well, strange things that aren't about my topic. If you don't laugh when you come across these things, think about what you've read by E.A. Poe. If you still aren't laughing, then visit Project Gutenberg and download Vol. 4 of Poe's Complete works (link: http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/2150 Just download from any of the links there, although I prefer the ascii version, personally) and read "How To Write a Blackwood Article".
Again, if anyone is interested in the rest of the essay, let me know and I will willingly post it.
