This is also correct in wudu, when washing the mouth, as long as one doesn't swallow the water, correct? I am hoping I follow this as well as I can. biggrin

I'd say yes, as long as one doesn't swallow anything.

☢ ☠ ☣ ☢ ☠ ☣ Really? eek As far as I know, we're prohibited from inserting anything into our mouths, ears, and all that such during fasting, which starts from Fajr and ends at Maghrib. But, other than that period, we could absolutely brush our teeth. ☢ ☠ ☣ ☢ ☠ ☣

Miss Shazreen ☢ ☠ ☣ ☢ ☠ ☣ Really? eek As far as I know, we're prohibited from inserting anything into our mouths, ears, and all that such during fasting, which starts from Fajr and ends at Maghrib. But, other than that period, we could absolutely brush our teeth. ☢ ☠ ☣ ☢ ☠ ☣ I've heard people state that putting your finger in your ear breaks your fast... Seriously, Islam is not *that* strict ^^; Quote: Toothpaste is not intended for consumption. Fast is only broken when it goes directly into our system. To say that one cannot use toothpaste is nothing but rigidity. The Prophet (peace be upon him) warned us against rigidity: “Woe to those who practice rigidity; woe to those who practice rigidity; woe to those who practice rigidity.” (Reported by Muslim) Taken from hereAnd you can have something in your mouth, such as water, provided you don't swallow (or else you wouldn't be able to make wudu properly). This is a good article to read as well. It mentions that eye and ear drops are fine to use as well, seeing as they do not reach the throat and the eyes, ears and head are not body parts that receive food. It also mentions that injections that are non-nutritious are fine. And Allah knows best (:

Usually, I brush my teeth after Suhur and before I go offer Fajr, that insures that my mouth is free of food and clean throughout the day.
