I hate when people think Muslims only wear Middle Eastern clothing..Like, they think Muslims no matter what race or nationality, wear things like Sari's or Salwar kameez no matter where they are xD I own 1 Sari, and 1 salwar kameez outfit, but i wear those rarely. And i never see Muslims wearing those here, especially in the winter. Even Muslims in the Middle East wear denim jeans, haha! Do you wear Middle Eastern traditional clothing? Do you also wear denim?

I wouldnt mind more..ethnic wear, but for now i make sure with American style clothing. I love the easy to wear and take off, which is why i prefer pinless Hijab styles x3 Do you want this Sari I have? It's too fancy for me >< It's already got the folds sewen in whee

FWIW, I don't have any ethnic wear. I would like to...but it's on the expensive side. I've seen some gorgeous abayaat on a few sites, but I'm unsure yet if I could justify the price, or even if I'd ever wear one.
Sort of relevant to the topic...what is the difference between an abaya and a jilbab?

Alsalam Alaykum ~ lool.. yes i've noticed some people whenever it comes to the word Muslims they quickly link it with Sari, i mean am from Jordan and i live there too.. which is in the Middle East! and i wear jeans xD.. never ever wore a sari..& u'll be shocked of how much girls wear jeans too!!
but you see the '' Abaya ''& '' jilbab'' is very popular in the Middle East.. wink a lot of mothers and older women and some teenagers... but most of the teenagers where normal clothes.. like jeans and T-shirts.
WasaLam ~ =]

Asslam o Alaikum
Yeah it kinda annoys me when my mother says, "Sara, you're Muslim, so WEAR the shalwar kameez. But there's no 'ethnic' kind of dress that Muslims should wear, as Islam is a religion, not a culture. I love wearing American style clothes, like ruffle shirts and jeans. I still like fusing clothes of the east and west. I'm going to wear a really pretty long pink shirt with light white embroidery and trousers. It looks stylish, and I'll try uploading pics of it here. ^^

Naw, total stereotype. Personally, I think that ethnic wear is drop-dead gorgeous, but most closets in the middle east have more jeans than abayat in them these days!

True, Abayas have a cute factor of 9001. Most Westerners (I was going to say Americans, but Europeans too) think that the Hijab mandates the wearing of the burkha (did I spell that right?) for all females. They are often surprised to know that most people would ''qualify'' if they wore a headscarf with their fall clothing.

Only to prayer, otherwise no. I also hate the sterotype that all Muslims are Arabs. Which is NOT true.
