Assalamualaikum to all. I just wanna know your opinion towards the fact that the end of the world is getting near and it is predicted to happen in 2012? Any one? Suggestions, advise or point of view? smile
PostPosted: Fri Jul 31, 2009 2:45 am

You know it's not gonna happen. I believe, that is what Christians predict and believe it to be. But we, Muslims believe kiamat (judgment day) is beyond our knowledge. We never know when and we can't predict it.

The question : What if NOTHING happens at 2012? Does this mean Christian is a lie?

I don't know. I don't know how are they going to face this when what they predict it to be does not happen. My possible answer is "it is just a prediction." That's what I can think. But I am truly sorry if I offended anyone.

We only know the signs of kiamat. Small signs, large signs. But the small signs is just to tell us that we are close to kiamat but we never know how close are we. And when the large signs appear, like sun rise at the west, that is kiamat and that is when we can do nothing. Scary huh? OwO

The small signs is not just a sign, but it is also to remind us that we are closer to kiamat and remind us to do more deeds than sins, and to remember Allah.

Just remember that if you think kiamat will happen during your life time, you may think that it is just a waste to do what Allah told you to do. Since we cannot predict when is kiamat so best if we do our best to be a good Muslim.

Actaully, it was predicted by the Mayan Calender (Mayans were original inhabitants of Central America) They were at their peak as a civilization from about c. 250 AD to 900 AD, and continued on until the Spanish arrived.

They excelled in Mathematics, astronomy and written language. This is the reason why people even give 2012 a thought, because they were so smart and advanced for that time.

Many Christians also believe this is going to happen, for whatever reason they have. But i view this as another 'Y2K' scenario, where everyone was scared that the world was going to end because computers didnt know to roll over to '2000' xD

I do not think that the theory of 2012 is something directly related to Christianity, it is just something that many Christians have coincidentally started believing in. I do not recall anything about that year ever being stated in any Biblical works, and believing in that day as a Christian would actually be blasphemous.

If I remember correctly, it stated in both Christianity and Islam that nobody other than God knows when Judgment Day will occur (not even His highest angels).

I think 2012 is all hype. It was the end of the Mayan calander and most of them are wiped out. It was the end of the Viking's calander and most of them have moved on as well. Honestly, to align it with the Christian Judgement Day is a little silly in my oppinion. I can't wait for 2013 so I don't have to hear about it all the time. (This is not an insult to this thread. I was reffering to television.)

Yes, I agree. Few seem to note that the the Mayans disappeared without a trace. It is entirely probable that they disappeared while making their cosmic calender, thus leaving it unfinished at the date of December 21, 2012.

It's probably just a coincidence that other sources claim the same year will be the end. It's just the result of people trying to find meaning in random arrays of numbers and letters. People tend to see what they want to see rather than rationalizing.
