just a quick little poll ^_^ i want to know how people came to draw the way they do
edit: oops, my bad XD
um.. me, I've been watching anime since I was 8 (sailor moon obsession <_<), started doodling a whole bunch in 8th grade, met a really nice guy my freshman year who lend me his drawing books... got a dA in freshman year summer, looked a whole bunch at dA people's art, stop a little while cause I had to play in orchestra instead of take art (asian parents =_=; ), started practicing again my junior year (nice AP teacher let me sit in on her classes)
... still at it 2 years later ._.;

Hmm... well i've been painting since i was 3, but as for drawing, my first memories of it were of drawing some doll's faces from life. From there i drew quasi cartoons throughout elementary school, writing short stories and illustrating them. Then in middle school, i had to choose between taking music classes and taking art classes [you couldn't do both where i went] so i gave up my music and took drawing and painting more seriously.....
got into anime, stopped painting for a while, got into digital art [photoshop 3!!!] then went to art school... and now i'm here XD

Oh c'mon Cy~ you can't ask people how they came to be without divulging your story the everyone>D
But as for me~ i've been drawing since i was 5 (around 11 years a go). I never took art seriously really, it was a fun pass time, no money involved so there were no art lessons or art classes in school unless mandatory. Then a year ago i got my first tablet for a birthday present and so i started to get more serious with my art since i had the tools to do so~ and thus, on and off drawing and experimentation led me to be the artist i am now but i have a long way to go^^

 I've been drawing (more seriously) since seventh grade which was... I dunno 04? xD
I have taken some art classes in high school, but generally I just like to draw cause it passes time and it relaxes me. I still have a ways to go, though. xD but it's very fun.

Mostly self taught. I've only been drawing "seriously" since sometime last year when I took it upon myself to improve and practice.
I've taken a few art classes now that I'm in college; but most of what I know has been learned by myself or with the help of my peers.

lol at asian parents. i found this one list once that said "you know you have asian parents when..."
"you play piano, violin, clarinet or a combination of the three"
" you are grounded if your 4.5 gpa lost to the neighbor's 4.6" XD

I loved to paint 'oriental' style paintings. I then got into manga and other anime related stuffs and I started to make my own little style. I'm still not as good as some people off DA but I am okay at it. I wish I had a scanner though.

I was a member of the choir and played the French Horn [and harmonica], i was interested in composing and wanted to learn the violin... i still come up with small symphonies in my head but don't have the knowledge to write them down or anything anymore.

i started before i can remember with a mini-chalkboard and a bakingsoda box full of chalk, and i've just never stopped xD i've never taken any art classes or anything except the lessons that were mandatory at school, but in 4 days i'm starting upper secondary school doing studyspecializing combined with art (roughly translated and not as fancy as it sounds xD )

self taught as well..... been drawing since a baby from lions and stick figures to painting to cg art. painting was my main thing during hs since i was in ap art and entered lots of art contests and shows for our school. then i went on a hiatus after hs and only doodled around but then picked it up 4-5yrs later on cg art and started to learn the ropes of anime stuff from there. i think being hardest on myself with critiques and force myself not to make the same mistake helped me improved a lot. also i've never went to art school thou i was gonna go during my hs if i stayed in ny because the state would've paid for my tuition but my mom screwed it up for me by sending me to austin.
