Well I haven't been in this guild too long but I mostly see topics on drawing tablets. I myself would like one but I wonder if I'd only be short changing myself to other mediums for expeience.
BTW I love to try new things especiall artsy wise, perler beads are fun razz
Anyway I am asking what is your favorite art medium and why? biggrin and now I shall rant...
Ive wasted money on a few millimeter marker pens only to find that I love using dip pens. Ive spent at least 100$ on prisma markers and I suck at coloring as well as shading for depth. However upon sparked interest on Deviant Art I like the results of water colors. I feel more comfortable with water colors since I have more control of it.
Why I like ink is well becuase this is well fan cliched I love manga, but dont get me wrong Ive loved drawing since pre-k XD. And so I figure why not draw something you love like eastern style manga. My manga/ink idols are none other than Oh Great!, Yashiro Nightow , Aki Shizumi and the Clamp girls. Oh Great has fluid form, top notch anatomy, women have the best sex appeal in his books. Yashiro is one of the few who use bold thinker than usual lines and a great smug dark genre look. Shizumi has the best costume concepts ive ever seen heart And Clamp well I love how they use various ink tech's to mimic tone w/o acutally using comic tone and its just so fluild and smoother whether that portray water or wind. XD Im ranting sorry crying
As for water colors its as simple as browsing Deviant art looking up something that catches your eye, reading the artists comments and being amaze at wow thats water colors?! Those people may not be famous as my manga idols but they are indeed my inspiration.

On a medium, well I kinda have a split medium
On the digital spectrum I love using my Wacom Tablet mixed with Photoshop CS3, I prefer photoshop over other art programs, because I have used it since I was 15, and am comfortable with it, but I also play with Manga Studio, and Open Canvas, but still not too comfortable with those programs yet.
On the traditional spectrum I am most comfortable with Mechanical pencils (.5 led) and Gel-ink pens, I know they smear if you are not careful, but I love how fluid the ink is when I apply it. And for coloring I love Crayola colored pencils, or pastels, depending if I want a sharp image or a softer one.
I'm not much on painting because I need to practice holding a paint brush more often still. I have never used watercolors, but am interested in trying because the effect is so soft and pretty.

My favourite art medium is oil. Hands down. There's just a spontaneity to it that you can't get with other mediums, and you can give it almost any look - a watercolor look, an acrylic look, a super-blendy digital look, etc.etc. I only started with oils about a summer ago, but I've been using acrylics for about seven years. I can't believe I stuck with acrylic for so long... Plus, oil's got that smell (I know a lot of people hate it), but to me, it smells "artistic." Really puts me in the painting mood.
My favourite digital "medium" (program) is Corel Painter. It really emulates the feel and blend of traditional painting, and since my training is in that, it feels natural to me.
Gash: haha, I'm the opposite. I spent a bunch of money on dip pens, and realized that those weren't for me at all xO.

Raeyu Itami: You should try water colors even if its just cheap crayola colors they still work. Although you need the right brushes for them because that thick wide cheap brush it comes with sucks bad. Basic though just a round a shader brush maybe a filbert.
Asamune: I can't paint to save my life XD I don't even know how I passed a year of painting in highschool. I'm still trying to master dip pens Im just a begginer at it. I'll have to take a gander at your works sometime

I do most of my work in pencil. Pencil is a really comfortable sort of "zone" for me to stay in, because I don't need to worry about accidentally messing up my picture. As such, when I grow attached to a sketch I most frequently finish it in pencil. (eg. http://eroding.net/junks/teira_armour.jpg ) Recently though, I got a dip pen/ink pen, and I've grown extremely attached to it. (eg. http://eroding.net/junks/aerenxa_ink.jpg ) I also do some marker and watercolour work, and have recently been combining them (as such http://eroding.net/junks/aria.jpg ) And then sometimes I do stuff in Flash. Nice work clocktock, pretty good pencil work.
I can't do detail all too well XD. Im the same though Ive had my dip pens not too long but I love em heart . Currently doing an art trade and by gosh the ink job is horrible, well compared to my last inked sketch, crying I'll have to re ink it. Luckily I use a tracing table to ink my sketches.

For traditional work, I use mechanical pencils (since you don't need to always sharpen it. And the width is pretty much always the same), colored pencils, and a pretty expensive ink pen for line art. I always try to work with sketchbooks, since the paper is the right kind for me. And when I have nothing else to draw on, I resort to computer paper. Which is pretty thin, and not as think as my preferred sketchbook paper.
When I work on digital art, I use Photoshop Elements 6.0 and my tablet. I like working on art on the computer, since it's cleaner and looks better in the end. I also get to do things with Photoshop that I cannot do with traditional art.
But when it comes to shading for both of them, I use different methods. With traditional, I found a tutorial that works perfectly for shading. I start at a certain point on the paper, and then draw a line down, and ease up on the pencil pressure that I'm using. So that way the beginning is much darker than the end point.
Though I use the dodge and burn tools for shading on the computer. It basically looks like soft shading. Since I have yet to figure out cell shading on Photoshop Elements 6.0

Digital: Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet, paint tool SAI and Photoshop CS3. Why? Because they're all convenient to use. lol
Traditional: 2B or 5B pencil or Ballpen or Faber Castell Colored pencils. Why? Because they are also convenient to use and relatively cheap. XD

I am a pencil gal. Charcoal pencils, colored pencils, watercolor pencils etc. I find it a very comfortable and controlled medium, and don't feel it is going to go array if i walk away for a second or have a shaky hand one day. (And plus, it can somewhat be reversed if you wish to change something)

Traditional, I love my mechanical pencil and Prismacolor color pencils. I'm not used to other traditional media outside of those. Easiest and most familiar to me, is why.
Digitally, I'm a Wacom+Adobe girl. Bamboo Fun and CS3 are love. <3 I can just do a lot more with it than I can traditional media.

			            Oh, hello there, internets!

I will use anything and everything. I might not be good with certain types of media, but I still like to try. Mixed media is my thing -- I like to see different textures and opacities together.
I like using watercolors, inks and liquid acrylics the most. If you're into watercolors but don't want to buy artist0quality paints, I would definitely recommend spending a little more money on Winsor & Newton's Cotman brand. They are made with more pigment, so you don't need as much of them to cover a wider area.
Also, buy a sealable palette and squeeze as much as you can of all your watercolor tubes out into the wells and let them dry up. Then add a few drops of water to them as you need to use them; you'll conserve your paints that way.
If you have trouble keeping some areas white, just use a masking fluid. Or paint on Fredrix watercolor canvas -- you can just wet a cloth and wipe up the bleeding, but I wouldn't depend on that. You don't want to get too used to an "eraser".
Another note: although I tend to use synthetic brushes for my painting (I prefer the smother texture), for a wash or a first layer of color, you should probably use a natural-hair brush.

I did not see you there.

My comfort zone is colored pencils. They always give me exactly what I want, and are easy to work with.
I like the look of watercolor paint, but I feel like I have very little control over them, and it's taking me longer than I thought it would to master them. >_<
Something I've been meaning to try is ink painting, for the Sumi-e style. I've been using a black crayola washable marker with water to imitate the look, but I should probably buy some proper materials. :B

My tiny wacom tablet and Photoshop CS4. I can't live without it. I wish I could do something with a mouse/MS paint or pencil/oil. It just splatters everywhere. Even on me. sweatdrop
