When the rain comes and theres litter on the floor it goes through the gutters and then to the ocean. So why not put gates up on each gutter to stop the litter from going to the ocean. Why not take a stand and tell the government what we want?!!!!!!!!!

Some do have gates, but think of all the small pieces of trash thrown on the ground every day. And, when it rains, most of the polution in the air collects in the drops [EX: acid rain] and then washes into the ocean creating more polution to be rained upon us all.

In Alexandria they place rolled burlap in front of the sewer drains so the water goes in but the trash is blocked. Why not email the city hall in your town and see if you can get them to install the same. heart

We organize volunteer groups every spring to pick up trash from the area parks and along the river. In addition, I pick up trash eery day in my neighborhood and shame my friends and family if I catch them tossing anything on the ground.

It wouldn't even have to be burlap, just some sort of material that lets in water, but repels trash. biggrin
