I don't know the exact details, but this is basically what happened.
A police officer in my town was walking towards a persons home, and a small Dachshund ran towards him, barking.
So the police officer pulled out his gun and shot the dog, killing it.
He claimed he felt threatened by the dog and thought he was in danger.
That's about it.
Can you believe that?
A tiny little Dachshund.
And apparently because it was coming towards him and barking he was in danger.
There's just no way that guy was really scared of that little thing, he must just hate dogs or something, but there's no excuse in my opinion.
He was, however, fired from his job.
Which he certainly deserves, as well as being shot in the leg, in my opinion.

Little dogs bark, it's in their nature. Yet this neanderthal SHOT it for doing nothing wrong. Glad he got sacked, he should be shot in the foot too to even things out a lil.

That's not even right... I wonder what his co-workers thought of that. A policeman feeling threatened by a small dog, there's something strange with that picture.

He's probably a wife/kid beater as well. What a coward. My cousin's got Dachshund's that he's had for years and they bark like mad but they've never ever bitten anyone. They're like putty in your hands when you play with them.

Your thoughts? how horrible.. i have a Miniature Dachshund and his name is peanut. he barks like heck but he's so sweet. that police officer is very stupid and probaly a animal abuser. how horrible. that mostly how the animals in this world die. by being shot. -.-'' how stupid...

That hurt me really deeply. I own two dachshunds. I know they bark alot, but they arent harmful. My one dachshund neela she yaps like crazy at nothing but she dosent bite or anything. My dachshund nemo he also barks a little bit but he listens really well. Dachshunds are so cute when u play with them and love them. I fight for animal rights.

I suppose that officer would feel "threatened" by a kitten to.come on rely you handle armed criminals almost all often,and your telling me a little dog is threat?Was it a stray or did it have owners cause if I was the owner I would SUE for so much.

I agree with something my grandma says all the time. The punishment for animal crueltly should be having what you did to the animal done to you.
