Thought I'd start things off with a discussion of solar power. Personally, my family have a solar water heater which helps to reduce our gas usage for heating and hot water.
I also think that using high efficiency power grids (some are already in the pipeline, its not just speculation) the world could run on solar power, provided there is considerable investment by all of the world's economies.
Just want to hear everyone else's views on this mrgreen

Solar Power is amazing. Honestly, the things they are doing with Solar Power these days amaze me and make me smile. Like, there's this Jacket (very fashionable, too) with solar pannels on it, and what you can do is plug in your cell phone, ipod, mp3player, or anything that needs to be recharged, and it will recharge using 100% solar energy. it's probably very expencive, but its a step forward into something great, wouldnt you agree?

Hello there. I'm extremely interested in solar energy. In robotics class, I hooked up a small solar panel to the motor. It didn't work because it was cloudy though. xD I wish solar energy panels weren't so expensive though. If I had enough money, I'd invest in them.
By the way, if anybody lives in California, I'll be at the California State Fair in the exhibit hall with the Laguna Creek High School green academy. Ask for Kristen. smile

Yay for Solar Enah-G! (One of my friends and I have changed the spelling of energy. get over it XD) I think the world is being cheap by not investing in solar power. But I do understand why it's not more common. I guess. XD I adore the aspect of solar energy. I mean, what more use could the sun be to our earth once it supplies us with heat, UV rays, light, and Enah-G?! I would definately buy one of those jackets. And a parasol. Not sure how much it'd work, with how little sun we get here >.<

Same here. We rely on a lot of Solar power for a lot of things to work in this house. idea

I wish so bad that solar power was more invested in around here. I've seen a few places with solar panels up in LA. Even though solar power is said to be expensive, if we make it more available then maybe it wouldn't so cheap and people could stop making excuses. scream
I remember see a bunch of stuff on solar energy on PBS a few years back. The solar-powered was unbelievable cool. It runs on pure solar power, and it can still run at night and on cloudy days because the solar energy it takes in all flows into a battery and it stores that energy! 8D There was also something about solar panels, too, but it was a while later after the car one. These solar panels aren't big and bulky and are installed right into the roof of the home. And to take care of them, you just sweep them every once in a while. They look like they're actually part of the roof, and it was so amazing for me to see! (I was only, like, 12 at that time. Hehe~)
I'd would totally buy that parasol. 8D I can be fashionable and eco-cool at the same time! 8D

Solar power would be a great asset granted enough people woul be willing to invest in it and other clean sources of energy

I like solar power, however there are a few letbacks with the issue being that there are some places in the world that just don't get enough sunlight to power a solar panel. A lot of places are stuck with clouds, so it would be hard to power a house.
I think that if we can advance solar power enough, it would be a great source of energy for most places. However, I don't think that the world can just run on one source of power. It just won't work for everyone in the world. Many environmental factors come into play that people have to think about.

Solar Energy is great but it cost ALOT of money just to build them, And with this economy this isn't possible to use.
And if im wrong about the money then reply [:.

I think solar power is great, but it should be paired with some other type of renewable source {like hydro- or wind-powered} just for those cloudy, gloomy days. (//_^) ninja
