What is your favorite genre? Why do you enjoy it so much? What else do you read?

Fantasy because real life is boring! We don't have any magic, dragons, or faeries! razz I also read historical fiction during the medieval period because I find the culture and customs back then interesting.

I enjoy fantasy because nothing interesting happens in real life and there is always something going on in fantasy books. I mean, you get dragons, elves, dwarfs, fairies and all these cool things that we can only dream of here. Its just too much fun to ignore reality and dive into fantasy!

I read fantasy fiction, realistic fiction, and a few historical fiction.
Most of what I read is based in the medieval/renaissance time. Or something related to that. I also like folk-tale kind of books, that have to do with old tales, or magic from Ireland. (really good books, Sevenwaters trilogy, and anything by Terry Goodkind) And if it's realistic fiction, it has a twist, from stuff like physic powers, or immortality(not vampires!!), or something like that!

I read a lot of Urban Fantasy. Although, it's not my absolute favorite I always end up enjoying the book.

My absolute favorite genre is adventure. Especially the one's where the main character is left alone and has to use his/her wits and common sense to survive in the wild. heart I adore those type of books.

Ditto to almost everything everyone else has listed. I'm a big manga reader as well, but the genre's stay pretty much the same.

Gotta say, inter-dimensional travel has to be my favorite story plot aid. Good stuff.

I really like Fantasy cause its better than real life. However, history books from the Medieval/Renaissance period are interesting simply because people couldn't do everything by technology.

I like Fantasy because u can make up anything while using your imagination and nothing has to be realistic!
I have a load of favorite authors who write that type of genre:
JRR Tolkien
Christopher Paolini
CS Lewis
JK Rowling
Jill Murphy
Tamora Pierce
Erin Hunter
Michael Ende
Lewis Carrol
There is so much more author's books I read...but those are the main ones.
I also love manga...(fruits basket and cardcaptors...) oh and kingdom hearts.
