 Most artists I've spoken with listen to music while they create art. I know that I have so much difficulties if there isn't some background noise while I draw.
The song "Bittersweet Symphony" by the Verve is my number 1 inspirational song. It's so soothing and melodic. heart I've listened to it over a thousand times. (No exaggeration there.)
The Killers, for some reason, also are fabulous for helping me to focus and draw. However, classical and video game music work or soft rock (i.e. Coldplay) tend to work the best, as they're soothing and fade into the background. (The soundtrack for the game Lost Odyssey is one of my favorites heart The legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is also up there.)
I have a habit of listening to a few songs and repeating them over hundreds of times in a few hours. XD I don't know why.
So what tunes get your creative juices flowing?

loud bass, lots of noises, no lyrics. these days I have iTunes radio on a lot, but when I turn on my cdplayer, it's mostly daft punk, prodigy, aphex twin. fast and loud, I need some tempo. XD and it's not really to get my creative juices flowing, but to keep my attention on the screen by abusing one of my other senses. I get distracted really fast. > <

Well I listen to pretty much everything..but the standouts are the Cowboy Bebop sound track (I love that jazzy sound, and the Seatbelts own life), The Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Fratellis, The Fugees and Lauryn Hill, and a surplus of random hip-hop xD.

No set songs; I tend to just put iTunes on and let it go through shuffle. Usual artists; Reverend and the Makers, Metric, Maximo Park, The Fratellis, Kate Nash, or Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.
When I really like a song, however, I tend to keep on playing it until I'm sick of hearing it, so I can end up listening to the same song on repeat throughout an entire art piece D;

I don't have any songs or style of music that particularly inspires or helps me me in art. But I'm always listening to music. I just listen to whatever I feel like, usually one song on repeat until I get tired of it, then move onto another one.
Though I do have a Death Note playlist now that I like listening to when I'm working on art.

Nikkic87 I don't have any songs or style of music that particularly inspires or helps me me in art. But I'm always listening to music.
This is true for me also. 3nodding
I'm into the prog rock scene for the most part, so Genesis and XTC are a must, but other frequenters are Josh Groban (I have no problem admitting that I like JG. xd ) and Dir En Grey.
My music collection pretty much covers all genres, so I'll usually selectively play the songs that fit the mood of what I'm drawing.

Normally I'll listen to something I can zone out to and listen to on repeat tons of times without really noticing. Like Bittersweet Symphony, actually--that's a good one. And Daft Punk's "Veridis Quo." Lately I've been getting into a band called Pure Reason Revolution. It's perfect. :'D
Every now and then I'll listen to happy crap I can sing along to, like Weezer, or the Beatles. Drives my roommate crazy, but it gets me pumped up. xD

It has been proven that the brain reacts positively to music, specifically classical, though not only classical. ArticleI'll sum it up for you guys, studies show that IQs increase after 10 minutes of listening to Mozart, thus giving it's name the Mozart Effect. I actually prefer listening to complex music that has multiple layers of sounds instead of just the basic "band" structure which under most circumstances is 3-4 layers of sound. Compared to orchestras which happen to have 4-100 people or even more playing instruments. I used to think classical was the most boring thing ever, but it has been a while since I was in middle school. I like Bond, Hans Zimmer, Immediate Music and countless other orchestras. If not just orchestras, I will like anything that is soothing such as Celtic Woman, specifically Chloe Agnew. I can also do just the opposite and do dark and evil, such as Kanon Wakeshima. As long as there is a melody, as long as there are many layers, I will more than likely, enjoy it. I just wish Pandora would get their s**t together and stop giving me crappy indie artists that don't know the meaning of a chorus. scream scream
