I was thinking about the styles of foods from various countries and I wondered what everyone likes.
I think that Chinese, Spanish, and American foods are very good, but my favourites are Italian food because I heart cheese and pasta, and Japanese food because the way that they cook veggies is delicious!
I hate Mexican food because I cannot stand spicy foods. xp It burns my mouth and throat, and it hurts my stomach.

Okay, seeing as I am American, I love American food the most but Mexican and Italian come close after that. I can't eat spicy food, so I eat like burritos, tacos and chimechangas. (Taking a rough guess at that spelling.)
razz Gahh Now, I am hungry.

I'm big on Asian foods of every description, the closer to native the better. Okay, except for pickled pig ear or jellyfish salad, I just don't like that texture. Korean is probably my favorite - my favorite dish will always be bibimbap, but I make an awesome kimchi jigae. I also make the world's best miso soup from scratch. It makes the stuff in restaurants seem like sour dishwater by comparison. Not kidding or bragging. There used to be this fabulous hole-in-the-wall Chinese place in my husband's old neighborhood that did fantastic hot pot, roast duck noodle soup, congee (it's a savory rice porridge, which sounds awful, but it's like their version of chicken soup), and stir-fried pork chops. They finally made enough money and retired. I actually cried. There's a Thai place I love to go to when I can afford it - I love to get their simmered duck dishes. Spicy as Hades, but so full of flavor I can't stop eating!
I'm also a giant fan of vegan Indian food. I'm allergic to dairy, so going the vegan route is the best way to make sure I don't accidentally get yogurt in something. But the spices...*drool*...it's like heaven. Also, papadams = love.
I'm currently having fun with Spanish food. Not Mexican, Spanish. Like paella and similar. Lots of saffron gets used, so it's a bit expensive, but I always ask for a new tin of saffron every year for my birthday, and my mom is happy to oblige (she gets invited over, you see). The latest hit was a sort of fusion: I had a stick of chorizo left over after making paella, so the next morning I made a big batch of chorizo-and-green-onion scrambled eggs. My son, who up until then preferred cereal to eggs, says he wants to have those scrambled eggs every morning forever. I'm kinda with him on that.
On that note, I'm going to go oversee the carving of the honey-glazed duck we're having for dinner...

Panda, you're half-Mexican and you don't like spicy food? Wow, no wonder your dad disowned you! lol I don't blame you, though. I can't stand it either.
Nanny obviously likes to cook! razz I think the best cook I ever met is the mother of one of my best mates. She usually only makes Spanish food, but daaaamn it is delicious! biggrin

I've always really enjoyed Italian food. I love all the different cheeses poured over noodles and the different herbs scattered over the hot vegetables and sphagetti or pasta. And Italian pasta is always amazing along with their pizza.

I adore Japanese food, not simply because of how gosh darn delicious it is, but because of the care the Japanese put in the presentation of their food. I also like French cuisine, Indian cuisine and Greek/Mediterranean cuisine....arggg now I'm hungry too!

We had some Chinese friends take us out for dim sum today - FAAAAAABULOUS! I actually ate chicken feet! whee I have no idea what I expected, but it tasted basically like chicken skin, baked in a sauce. I'd been curious about them ever since I saw them on a menu somewhere else, but I didn't want to get a whole order in case I ended up not liking it. Sooooo...next time, I can just order them without worry!
