Originally in the first Sonic the Hedgehog game,there were six Chaos Emeralds.Sonic couldn't use them to go Super until Sonic the Hedgehog 2.And they were originally used to boost his power to the max.

ok then.i figured it out!ok in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog there were 4 chaos emeralds that all lokked the same.they each gave a specific power.invisibility, invincibility, immortality, and the power to give life.
