For those who don't know, Virtual Console on the Wii lets you download old Nintendo titles onto the brand spankin new Wii system.

There's so many reasons why this is awesome. Growing up I mostly played video games at other peoples' houses. There were so many games I loved but never owned. Like Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country. Because of Virtual Console, I finally have my own copies of those games and I didn't have to hunt down an old system to do it.

It's also great if a game you already own is worn out. My copy of Majora's Mask once glitched on me and erased a complete game. crying I had all the masks and I'd found every single one of those damn faries. So I was overjoyed today when Virtual Console released Majora's Mask on the Wii. TwT Now I can play without fear of my game cartridge hiccuping all my precious (preeeeecioussssssss!) game data into oblivion. Not to mention Majora's Mask is only 1000 Wii points, which is $10. Just $10 for a copy of one of my favorite games of all time.

whee Now if you hate the Wii, or you're all about arguing about which console is better, please leave my nice little thread be. What I want to discuss is:

If you've got a Wii, what Virtual Console games have you bought (Old games, not WiiWare, though it's cool to discuss WiiWare too)?

Why did you want to buy the Virtual Console games that you bought?

And what old games do you really want to see on Virtual Console that haven't been added yet?

My Wii is back in AZ with my parents and brother, so I can't even remember what was on Virtual Console anymore sweatdrop But I do remember the first time my brother and I were looking through it, there was a lot of '*gasp!* O.O' and 'Ooh ooh! Look!'.

However, I'm pretty sure all our N64 games (or at least the ones we still play) are all working pretty well, so there's really no need for us to 're-buy' old games. Though yes, Virtual Console is amazing for those games we never got to play way back when.

And that's horrible about your copy of Majora's Mask D: I'd have cried. Maybe. Probably.

I almost did....but it happened to reset like that just as I was starting a new game. It wasn't "too" horrible since I hadn't played in a while. But still, with that game I always like to have 1 save file that's super complete, so I can just play around with all the masks and stuff whenever I feel like it. whee

I, alack, do not have a Wii. However, I've played Virtual Console games before and they are quite well done. It makes me happy that I can play older Nintendo games, and even some of the older Genesis games, on a newer console.

I am excited, of the prospect of Virtual Console coming to the DSi. The only reason I speculate this is it mentioned Virtual Console when I was taking a Club Nintendo survey about the Opera Browser I got for my DSi. Technically the Opera Browser would count since it was originally released for the DS Lite, but I never really considered it as a Virtual Console title. However, it does kind of leave in the open what other titles they could make on the Virtual Console. Remakes of older Game Boy games or perhaps Game Gear or other portable handhelds might be nice though, as well as letting one play Super Nintendo and Genesis titles on the go.

Guessing at Nintendo's genius/stupidity, the Virtual Console items they might offer for the DSi would probably consist of the portable systems of yesteryear: Game Boy, Game Gear, WonderSwan, Neo Geo, and others. It just seems very Nintendo to make the DSi have portable Virtual Console titles while give the Wii the home console titles.

Paying for a fancy emulator? I think not*. o_o
But it's definetely a fine solution for people without a computer (or some consoles), or the knowledge of emulation.

But I think it's a bit of a rip-off, like the DSi....

*Well, to be fair, technically I payed for my computer as well, but you know.....? I payed for the hardware, not the stuff getting emulated <.<

Yeah but not everyone likes to go the emulator route. And some games just aren't as good as emulators. Like Pokemon. You can't trade with anyone if you use an emulator for it. I'm not knocking emulators though, I'm just glad there's a way for people to get classic games on their consoles/portable systems.

Also Virtual Console games are fairly inexpensive. Majora's Mask was only $10. There's also a lot of games on VC that were never released in America.

At first I kinda thought the same thing like "Why would I pay for copies of games that I already have?" But actually there's tons of games on there that I don't have so it's been really good to me.

Just....don't ever buy the WiiWare title "Final Fantasy My Life as a King". gonk Seriously, don't. It's all the fun graphics of a Final Fantasy game....but you don't ever do anything.
