This is borderline advertising. Just so you know people here probably WON'T go to the link just because of that.

Seriously, you could have just said you made a thread in the Gaia Forums that ran successfully for a 3 year period thus far, not included the link and been fine.
By putting the link in and very little by way of discussion this really looks like advertising which is a no-no here. Fix it if you don't want to get locked and such.
As for on topic: I made a guild that's been open since 2006 and we are still running. Granted, guilds don't die, they are apparently eternal...even the dead ones. OMG...Gaia has zombie guilds! Fear the zombie guilds!

Oh hush you...we're only at semi zombie status. We still have two threads moving, even if it is at a crawl at the moment. Now if I could just get my lurkers to post more and lurk less... mrgreen

Sorry Puke, I had to remove the link because it is a violation of our Advertising rules. However the discussion is still fine so the thread will remain unlocked.

Well I'm glad we can discuss the thread now that we don't have a link to it! This is is no more advertising then the thread about the thread in the ED.
Without the link this thread is spam as it has nothing to discuss.

Quote: Check out what I'm doing for my thread's 3rd birthday! There's the add. No where in mine am I saying go there and tell them off or anything else. My link is simply a link so people can see what I'm talking about. In fact I know that some people won't want to go there and so I tell them what it's about. Not advertising. See the difference? Seriously, you're getting things mixed up, you should go see someone for that..

Focus gang! The worst of the advertising is gone. There is a mild discussion: Long running threads...or possibly threads that return from the dead. We've had a couple of those even in this guild.
Actually, this guild has some pretty great long running threads like the Phunkeh and the Post Picture threads. I find a random chatter thread seems to be a good thing for any guild. I think a lot of success for other long running threads comes from having the right audience at the right time to get the needed momentum to keep it rolling. So far I've only had 2 threads like that, but not nearly as good as the Punkeh is.
