Secret Admirer works like Secret Santa. Whoever wants to participate will post "I'm in" in this thread by the 7th of February. On the 7th, I will PM everyone who is participating and tell them which elf they're buying a gift for. This gives everyone at The Bookcase a week to sign up and another week to purchase and send a gift. whee
Whomever you are admiring will not be admiring you. I'll be mixing up the names. For example, if Star, Sun, Moon, and Cloud were taking part in this, it might work out:
Star buys a gift for Cloud
Sun buys a gift for Moon
Moon buys a gift for Star
Cloud buys a gift for SunThe Gifts
Whatever gift you send should be sent anonymously with the message "From your ___ Secret Admirer." (The blank space is for an adjective about you. I'll explain that momentarily.) It would be nice if you sent the gift on the 14th, however, if you doubt that you'll be online on Valentine's Day itself, then feel free to send it a couple of days before. You only need to send one gift, though you may send more if you wish.
The gift should cost a minimum of 1,000 gold and a maximum of 6,000 gold. There's no pressure to send outlandishly expensive items, but we don't want anyone to be sent Starter stuff. 3nodding If you wish to particpate, make sure that you have several items on your wish list that fall into this price range so your Secret Admirer can have options to choose from.The Twist
Our wonderful guild mule - Elf on a Bookshelf - will be participating. This is why in the gift you anonymously send you must have an adjective about yourself to give a small hint about your identity. For example, Minerva is the Goddess of Wisdom, so I might say "From your Wise Secret Admirer."
Based on your hint, (and possibly your gift itself) if you think that Elf on a Bookshelf was your Secret Admirer, then say so in this thread. Everyone who signs up to participate in this will receive 5 points. razz If you guess that Elf was your Secret Admirer and you're wrong you shall lose 1 point. (5-1=4 right? Right.) If you guess that Elf was your Secret Admirer and you're correct you shall receive an extra 5 points! (5+5=10 doesn't it? Okay.) It certainly seems worth it to guess to me! wink Supposing that the person Elf is admiring doesn't guess at all, then it will remain a mystery as to who received a gift from The Bookcase's mule and no one gets the bonus points.Who wants to admire, and be admired by, their fellow elves? I've been thinking, what if someone receives more than one gift? Some people might be left out, wouldn't they?
Should we post here saying we received one as soon as we get it?

You won't receive more than one gift unless your solitary admirer chooses to give you more than one. I'm assigning every single person to admire one person. See what I mean? Whomever you are admiring won't be admiring you so that way you won't know who your admirer is! wink
Of course, if you want to post in this thread when you get your gift just to say something like, "I got my gift. Thanks to whoever admired me!" then you can. Most participating elves will be getting their gifts on V-day (or a few days before), so there'll be lots of posts around that time! exclaim The only elves who definitely should post in here upon receiving their gifts are the ones that speculate ELf on a Bookshelf might be their Secret Admirer.
All right, today is the day e get PMs telling us who we're admiring; I'm excited biggrin
