I hope I didn't screw this up! >< Second time's the charm right..?
The year is 2007 and you clicked this bouncing ad just to get it to stop clogging your screen. But then your screen glows black. You are now fully aware of the power you have been given...You feel it in your bones.
Then...a small notification window pops up, it interrupts your game, your e-mail, your instant messaging, freezing your whole screen until you open it.
You have no choice. You open it...
Bulletin From Heaven Attention Humans! The Bureaucracy that is Heaven's Request Fulfillment Department is on strike! We are tired of taking your requests and granting your meaningless wishes! We are also sick and tired of getting your complaints when your stupidity doesn't work out!
WE QUIT!
You are on your own! We have established way for you all to shut up and quit whining at no expense of our own!
You all will be granted one wish. The wish is meant to be spent. It can be almost anything. You just have to follow these rules.
1. You cannot kill anyone. 2. You cannot raise the dead. 3. You cannot conflict with another wish, the first wisher's wish will be granted first and yours cannot conflict with it. 4. You cannot take anything away from anyone through use of your wish. 5. You cannot wish for more wishes. 6. You cannot wish to be God or Godlike or to do Mass Creation/Destruction. 7. If you wish someone to fall in love with you, the rest of the world will hate you as a consequential action.
If you have any questions, send a request e-mail to this address for assistance:
customerservice@heavenhumanresources.net(It's fake, by the way, as an OOC note)Human Resources will send someone right away with help.
Also, if you want more than one wish, you must kill with your own two hands the person whose wish you want. A tiny star-shaped gem will float up from their body and you simply grasp it before anyone else does, and it is absorbed into your body. You will have no way of knowing if this person has spent their wish or not until you have killed them. If you have killed ten wish-having people by yourself with your own being in one day and still have no remorse for it, then you are granted an extra wish on top of those ten that is exempt to the rules.
You also will not die of age until you have spent your wish.
Good Luck, Peons! We're not liable for your crap anymore! Heaven has given up on the human race and its sinful indulgence and arrogance and whining. Now it's all in our hands...
What will we do with such power..?
10 years have passed and everyone on Earth has seen this bulletin and has been given their wish. With the department in heaven still on strike, the humans are truly on their own now. {OOC: Ai-Li will -always- be in black. Heiwa will be in dark blue.}
The cigarette sat dormant and idle in the ash tray. Slowly dying as its tiny glow was the only warm thing in the room. The cold harshness of the blue-hued LED screen combating it for dominance. Obviously, as the long ash fell into the tray and the cigarette burnt itself out, technology triumphed over paper, poison and plant.
However, the young human failed to care. Staring and scrolling over her screen was all she really cared about at the moment. The site consumed her. A boring, over complicated internet community. Clicking the "reply" button, she began to type. Her fingers like lightning against the plastic, a series of almost rhythmic taps following her movements. The letters, hearing her little phalanges' dance appeared on the screen. They formed sentences. Paragraphs. And with some obligatory editing to the format, the young woman's hand reached the mouse. "submit".
It's been three years since she's gotten her wish. And yet, she never bothered with using it. What more could a spoiled millionaire otaku girl want? She had all the anime she'd ever need, all the games she'd want. All the knowledge at her fingertips. She snorted. Thinking to herself. "Maybe if I wished for more ambition." Which was followed by the obvious "Screw that" she muttered out.
Her eyes watered behind her glasses. The left one, the blue one, always seemed to water more... Ai-Li Tanaka had heterochromia. A blue-green pair, it was just like her. Her head in the clouds, and her body stuck on earth. Or perhaps she was neither. Her black hair pulled back in a lazy ponytail that she fiddled with as her form leaned back in the big office chair.
The orbs quickly flew to the clock on her computer. 10:38am. She snorted slightly mid-chuckle having been in the same spot since 8pm the night before. Ai, her sister, must be pissed by this blatant disregard for her health. Oh well.

"No, Sir. I cannot give you another wish because your wife died of natural causes and never used hers." Heiwa sighed and scribbled something down on her note book. A consultation with a human was never fun. And sometimes she hated being human resources. Her hands moved to her temples and she rubbed them hard.
"Look, Mr. Peterson, I cannot grant you a second wish because you're in crutches and couldn't get the wish that floated from your wife before it disintegrated." Mr. Peterson kept crying and whining. Heiwa had to be strong. She had to be cold, no matter how hard it was. "I'm sorry...I'm very sorry for your loss, but it's how the system works. There's nothing more I can do..."
And with that, she scribbled her signature on a piece of paper, dug into her purse for her stamp, stamped the paper and handed it to him. "For your records." The red headed angel stood up, scratching her nose piercing. She sniffed before adding... "It's also good for a 10 dollar discount on theater tickets." After such an add in, Heiwa's form began to glow with a warm light. The light ate her up, swallowed her whole, and she was gone. Mr. Peterson was denied his avaricious request.

"Dr. Donovan to Room 203, Stat" The black haired woman jerked awake as the monotone voice blared over the loud speakers. Rubbing her eyes Taylor was only allowed a brief moment to wake up before the message sounded again and she had to be up. Wiping away all traces of sleep with the back of one slim hand she grabbed her lab coat and left the doctor's lounge. In doing this she immediately regretted it. The sound proof walls had blocked out all the noises of the hospital but now as she traversed through the hallways the noise was almost deafening to her.
'It's been like this ever since those damn wishes appeared' Taylor thought darkly as she looked around. Striding down the hallways she made a most striking figure, her face was young enough to make her look in her early twenties though she was actually in her thirties already. Her raven, black hair was tied up into a strict pony tail with a few locks falling out in some places from her short nap. The eyes were probably the best feature she had as they constantly seemed to change colors. In the darkness or shadow they seemed to be gray or black but when she light shined on them it brought out the green forests inside of them. Walking through the hospital she stayed attune to all of the groans and moans of those who had been attempted to be killed by guns, cars, fists and even kitchen knives. It was disgusting to see how the world had degraded at the thought of a free wish if you succeeded in killing someone. 'There goes the long standing rule of, Murderers Never Prosper' she thought again as she stopped outside 203 and checked the chart outside the door. "Stomach pains, nausea, flushed skin, trembling" Taylor muttered the symptoms and rolled her eyes. An obvious case, pushing open the door she looked upon the woman lying in the bed, pale and showing all signs of what Taylor knew to be poisoning. Beside her sit a man seemingly distraught with worry but the dark green eyes of Taylor's could see as his own looked from the monitor to the woman's face before finally going to Taylor's.
"Doctor" he said exalted to see her "Have you found out what's wrong with my wife?" he asked urgent in tone but his eyes were showing no signs of worry, only a deadly calm. Taylor gave the man a smile and brushed past him as she went to the woman. Sitting down across from the man she smiled at the woman who looked truly scared and confused. 'It is always these people that get hurt by this stupid wish' she thought cursing Heaven once again.
"Hello, Hannah. I'm Docter Donovan" she said politely at the woman who just stared at her blankly for a moment and blinked a few times before responding and Taylor was able to add Mental Confusion to the list of symptoms.
"Oh..Um I'm Hannah Berkley this is my husband John" the woman said though her words were less pronounced and somewhat slurred in tone.
Taylor nodded and kept smiling "All right Hannah, can you tell me what you were doing when your pains started?" she asked politely and the woman nodded after another brief pause.
"I was eating dinner with John" she said looking over at him "I had just finished eating the soup when my stomach began to hurt and I felt dizzy. I got up and fell over so John called the hospital" she explained with some confusion still in her voice "Doctor, do you know what's wrong" she asked worriedly and Taylor's face couldn't help but falter.
"I have some ideas" she said and with serious eyes she looked over at John "Your symptoms show signs of poisoning, it was probably in the food you ate" she said evenly as the woman showed signs of shock.
"Bu-but how?" she asked very confused and agitated now "We didn't order out, it was all freshly prepared. John is a wonderful cook he made the-" she suddenly cut off as Taylor's look seemed to become more solemn and the woman looked over at her husband "J-John?" she asked her voice quiet and scared.
Her husband meanwhile was glaring at Taylor and then looked at his wife. Taylor saw his intentions only a moment too late as he suddenly whipped out a long knife and sunk it deep into his wife's chest while she screamed. Lunging over the bed at him Taylor pushed him off of the chair and onto the floor. He tried to roll over to get up but Taylor was on him in a minute grabbing his arm and twisting it back furiously making him cry out. No sooner had she gotten him pinned when two police officers rushed in and took him off of her hands.
Free of him Taylor whirled back around to Hannah and rushed over to her. She lay gasping in pain while the monitor she was tied up to beeped non-stop as she tried to pull the long knife out from her chest in panic. Taylor had cloth in her hand and was about to pull the knife out when she heard the beeping become faster and faster until Hannah's hands went limp, her cries of pain died in her throat and her eyes went blank.
Knowing the truth of it and unwilling to try any longer while the knife had pierced through her lung and had embed itself in the woman's back ribs she sat down heavily placing her head in her hands. She'd once thought that she could get used to the pain, or at least know how to deal with it. It was inevitable though, that feeling of helplessness and loss. To know that someone was gone, someone who had been loved by someone, someone who had died for a worthless cause and this one had been betrayed by the man she trusted. Taylor felt the tears burn hotly at the back of her throat and she saw something glimmer through her fingers. Looking up she watched as the wish floated up, a sparkling light, so beautiful in looking at it but so disgusting to her in existence. 'That is what that woman died for', she mused depressingly as she watched it evaporate 'How Stupid'.
Standing Taylor strode quickly out of the room passing by the doctor's who would take the body to the morgue. None of them spoke to her and she didn't look at them though she could feel the waves of sympathy emanating from them. Her face was dark and unpleasant as she walked to the front desk and checked herself out ignoring the voice that called her once again over the intercom. She had to take a break, she couldn't repeat that process so soon when she could still feel her heart breaking for that woman.

Heiwa pulled a pack of gum from her pocket. The smooth paper container torn and squashed awkwardly. Its once uniform shape now aged to a crinkled state. She was reminded of Mr. Peterson. Her day was made of suck.
Lost in her thoughts, she walked into the street. A car accident of three cars piled up around her. The crunching and crashing of two rear endings made her snap back to reality. This was Earth. The land of flaw. Of misery. Of distaste and dishonesty. The Request Fulfillment Department was so humanized. On strike. For this long, even?! Where in the Divine Business Plan did it have this?! Heiwa was over worked, and it showed in the form of bags under her eyes as she rubbed her temples.
As she desperately tried to get her head ache to go away, feeling a vein almost bulge a little from her forehead, her phone rang. The gentle tune of Franz Liszt's Liebestraum danced in polyphonic fail from her phone's little speaker and into the fibers of her denim jeans. "Oh geez..." She murmured, practically flopping into a chair at some random cafe's patio.
After her hand dug for a moment, she flipped open the phone. "Hayashi." She muttered with a hint of spite. "Get back to the office. You're not on break yet!" Heiwa couldn't help but hiss back in her own defense. "I wasn't on break, I was finishing up a consultation! You know, that thing you HIRED me for!?" Heiwa's fist thrust into the table, breaking the glass cover and bending the painted white steel in the process.
But it was of no use. Her boss had spoken and hung up on her mid sentence. She just realized when she heard the beeping of a text message alert. "Amelia?" She mumbled. The text read clear. "He's really mad this time. You better come back on the double." Heiwa knew it was best to heed this plea for her safety. And so, with reluctance, she dialed the number for voice mail on her phone. Hit the 0, then the star, then three 7's. The robotic voice paused. "Please enter your password." Heiwa did as instructed. "You'll be home in a jiffy!" The robot said with enthusiasm.
And that was that. With a brief tap on her right foot, she was gone. Into thin air, and back in her office. Only to be met by what seemed like a cyclops, barely two inches from her face. Until it yelled at her. "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? YOU'RE A LAZY BUM, HAYASHI!" Heiwa leered at her boss defiantly. "I'm sorry...won't happen again."
She tuned out the rest of the lecture as she walked back to her cubicle and logged into her computer. Oh what a fun day at work this would be.

Outside she went directly across the street to the park, the park was there for those who were waiting for news of their loved ones and to pass the time. In the early morning there was next to no one hanging out there so it was her favorite spot to rest and take everything into account as she usually did. Sitting on a bench where she could still see the hospital she made sure to keep a careful watch knowing that some people wouldn't pass over the chance to try and kill her.
Keeping her ears tuned she leaned her head back and rubbed her temples in slow, rhythmic circles. The headache she'd been nursing earlier had turned into a full blown migraine and the roll of her stomach made her think that she might be coming down with something. "No s**t" she muttered "Working for 40 hours straight doesn't do wonders for the immune system" she rubbed her eyes of what she knew was exhaustion. She'd been working on only coffee and small, eclectic naps for almost two days and it was beginning to take it's toll. She was hoping that they would allow her to go home in the morning and reboot.
The sudden squealing of sirens jerked her back to attention she her head popped up as she watched 3 ambulances rush into the hospital. 'I'll just throw away that thought' she mused with anger as she jumped up and ran over to help. As soon as she arrived she was updated on what had happened. A three car pile up, a few serious injuries but none had died yet. More doctors rushed out just then to help unload the injured and they rushed all of them to the E.R. examining the injuries on the way. Four hours later all 5 of the car accident patients had been stitched up and were lying in the recovery room. None of them had died and Taylor was thankful that the other doctors shared her view on the wishes or else they would be wanting the patients to die of their wounds. As it was, they hated the wishes as much as she and worked tirelessly for the savior of the people.
During the four hours there had been several other incidents involving cars, drunks, shootings, muggings and many of which Taylor examined herself often accompanied by other doctors mainly for safety whenever she was to see a man alone. It wouldn't have been the first time that a man faked a sickness in order to get a doctor alone. After another three hours she was finally told to go home when she next to passed out in the doctor's lounge and after a half hour nap she was able to make the walk.
Leaving the hospital she began to half mile walk to her condo in one of the best districts mainly because it was also one of the safest. No doctor wanted to get mugged after putting in forty hours in the hospital. Holding her head down against the cold the wind blew her foot long, silky black hair every which way though her dark green eyes were watchful underneath the torrent and her slim hands grasped the hilt of a knife in her black trench coat pocket. Walking quickly she wanted to make the distance between her and the condo close as quickly as possible so she didn't try to be graceful or beautiful as some would. Instead she raised her shoulder and buried most of her face in the neck of her coat trying to keep at least somewhat warm in the brisk morning air.
